Are you connected to your child's Seesaw account? Seesaw is a great way to receive communication from your child's teacher and see classroom activity. It is also the main platform that will be used for e-Learning days. If you are not yet connected to Seesaw, please reach out to your child's teacher for their special link or QR code. This year’s food drive benefits Hastings Family Service. Merchants and area schools will collect monetary donations and non-perishable food items.

Donations can be dropped at Merchants Bank in Hastings, sent with students to school or can be brought to the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train visit to Hastings, at the Canadian Pacific Depot, 500 East Second Street, 8:00 p.m., December 9. Contact us for more information.

Most Needed Items:

  • Monetary donations. Hastings Family Service can turn a $10 donation into 70 pounds of food. If each student at McAuliffe brought in $1 we could provide 3,500 pounds of food to families in need!
  • Side dishes (rice, pasta, potato and stuffing)
  • 100% fruit juices
  • Jelly or jam
  • Pancake mix
  • Canned fruit
  • Soup, stew, chili and chow mein
  • Crackers
  • Laundry and dish detergent
  • Toilet paper
  • Toothpaste

The school that brings in the most pounds of food will win FREE frozen custard from Culver's for the entire school!

Join us in making this a warm winter for families in the Hastings area. Clip new hats, mittens, or gloves (any size) to the tree located at the Media Center entrance December 2nd through December 13th. Donations will be distributed to Hastings Family Service and to our school nurse. Thank you for supporting this project!

December 18th is our next Box Top Tuesday collection. If students collect 2,000 Box Tops in December they will earn a school wide Sledding Day. Sledding Day date to be determined.

Every year the students at McAuliffe prepare a performance for family and friends as a part of their music class. Students in Grades K, 1, and 2 prepare an informance. An informance is a bit less formal than a concert. It demonstrates their performance abilities while also sharing parts of the music curriculum. Informances are held in the music room.

The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, April 22:

11:25-11:55: Mrs. Whitehill

11:55-12:20: Ms. Ellson

1:10-1:35: Ms. Brandt

1:35-2:05: Mrs. Jonely

2:05-2:30: Ms. Barry

2:30-3:00: Mrs. Fischer

Thursday, April 23:

11:25-11:55: Ms. Zabel

11:55-12:20: Mrs. McNamara

1:10-1:35: Mrs. Schulte

1:35-2:05: Mrs. Hanson

2:05-2:30: Ms. Bronk

2:30-3:00: Mrs. Hunt

**Mrs. Elthon, Ms. Paulson, and Mrs. Erickson's classes split for specialists. Please contact these teachers for informance times.

Third and Fourth graders as well as the McAuliffe Eagle Choir will perform a formal concert in the McAuliffe gym. To accommodate all families and friends, we will perform twice. The date and times are as follows:

Friday, February 7th: Grade 3 & 4 Concert

9:30 a.m.

2:00 p.m.

As the weather begins to cool, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for playing outside. Students spend twenty minutes outside for recess.

When the temperatures start to dip into the 40’s and 50’s, we do require students to wear a light jacket or sweatshirt outside. When winter arrives, winter clothing including hats and mittens/gloves will be required.

It is important that you have accurate phone numbers on file for your student with the school district. Although we are using a calling system to contact families in case of inclement weather, the district will still continue to post school delays or closings in the following ways:

Official school closing announcements will be made on Hastings KDWA Radio 1460, WCCO-Channel 4, KSTP-Channel 5, KMSP-Channel 9 and KARE-Channel 11 television and Hastings Public School Website.

Please visit our webpage for directions at: www.hastings.k12.mn.us

Before and After School Care

If the Hastings Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather conditions, the Kids Campus Program will also be closed. If school is delayed two hours in opening, Kids Campus will be open at the regular time (6:30 am).

If school closes two hours early, then Kids Campus sites will close two hours early

(4:00 pm). Parents will be called and notified by Kids Campus staff to pick up their child.

Please pick up your child by 4:00 pm or authorize someone else to pick up your child by that time. Please listen to the radio and TV for school closing announcements.
