Last Wednesday, was our first Town Halls, I shared photos of most groups and have one last one to share here. This is an intentional multi-age grouping and smaller groupings to promote our schoolwide focus on building belonging. Last night we had our PTO sponsored Ice Cream social thank you to the PTO for organizing such a wonderful event, and to our families for coming out to connect.
i-Ready Reports Are Coming Home
The results for the i-Ready Beginning of The Year Diagnostics for both reading and math will be carried home by students this coming Thursday, September 2nd. In addition to the results, you will receive a letter from Mr. Dave Chiszar, Director of Assessment and Accountability, as well as information regarding how to interpret your child’s scores. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher.
Upcoming Non-Attendance Days for Students
Next Friday, September 2nd, and the following Monday, September 5th will be nonattendance days for students. Friday is Institute Day for teachers and Monday is the Labor Day Holiday
Family Resource --Due Today
Please include the following information from the Social Work Department in your building-level communication to families this week, as the form is due August 26. (thanks in advance):
In D303, we value the opportunity to provide a community of care and support to our families, especially those faced with financial hardship.
If your family is currently experiencing a significant financial need, our community partnerships have several supports available for families, including school clothes/shoes, winter coats/accessories, school supplies, toiletries, holiday meals, and/or holiday gifts. If you would like to be considered for any of these supports, please complete the Family Resource Form by August 26, 2022.
FROM THE OFFICE:
Smartwatches and Phones
Technology can be a wonderful way to keep in touch with family members. However, smartwatches and phones can become quite disruptive to the learning environment when parents are contacting their children throughout the day (and vice versa). The Elementary School Handbook contains the following language:
Students are extended the privilege of possessing phones/smartwatches on school grounds; however, their use is limited to after-school dismissal and non-school days. These devices must be in the off position, or not used once the student arrives on campus until the end of the school day.
Teachers will be requesting that students leave their watches and phones in backpacks or another class-designated place each day when they enter the classroom so that learning can continue uninterrupted.
