St. Peter School News
St.Peter School exists to provide a nurturing environment where students become Disciples of Jesus Christ, embrace the love of lifelong learning, and believe in the dignity of all people.
Dear Family and Friends of St. Peter School,
As February draws to an end, I find it hard to believe that we are in the third marking period. The year is truly flying by! I am happy to announce that within a few short days, our brand new website will be up and running. We are still filling in some areas. Since this is a living website, be sure to check it often. By the end of March, each teacher will have created a section on the website for their grade level/content area. This section will include important information about what is happening in the classroom, including homework and projects.
Drop-off and Pick-up Update:
Thank you for waiting in your car while your child is brought to you. This process is for the safety of all. We know the line is long, but please do not use the bank drive-through when entering the rectory driveway. It only serves to clog up the travel lanes.
Reminder: It is imperative to keep the travel lane in front of the school open. Therefore, do not drop off or pick up students in the front of the school.
Clothing/Lost and Found:
We have a lot of lost clothing in our bin in the main office. If your child is missing something, why not check the bin and see if you can be reunited with your missing belongings? Yes, the bin is still full!
Enrollment - It is that time of year!
If you have not already re-enrolled your child(ren), please stop by the office and pick up the information you need. Financial aid application is open now to families who qualify. If you know anyone who is interested in having their child(rem) attend St Peter School, please ask him/her to call the school office at 203-748-2895 and speak to one of the secretaries or ask to speak to me. We would love to show you around! An added bonus... Any family who registers at St. Peter School upon your recommendation will receive $100 off their own tuition. All they need to do is mention your name to Zaida at the time of registration.
Please be sure your child(ren) are dressed appropriately for the frigid weather with coats, scarves, hats, and gloves/mittens. A sweatshirt is simply not enough to provide protection from the cold weather.
Home School Association
We are in need of parents to attend and be a part of the the HSA. Please come to the next meeting if you are able and learn about upcoming events. We need folks to work on various subcommittees.
St. Peter School is in need of track coach(es) and volunteers. VIRTUS training is required as well as back-ground checks. Please contact the school office if you would like to coach or volunteer! Unfortunately, we did not get any volunteers to coach track this year which means we will not have Track this year.
I would like to take a moment to thank Coach Bill and Coach Emily for working so hard with our Junior Varsity and Varsity Boys and Girls this season. I know everyone has worked very hard this year. It is always about how the game is played and never about winning and losing.
Personalized Learning/Writing Workshop
This initiative is going strong at St. Peter School. Coaches from the Diocese have been visiting our school and working with our teachers to help them develop routines and strategies for station rotation in particular.
This year we have been fortunate to have the services of two consultants to work with our primary teachers and our intermediate teachers on the writing process. Our students are growing their writing skills every day! I hope you are seeing some of the fruits of their labors at home.
In closing, I would like to thank you all for your support as we journey together through the school year.
Mary Lou Torre, St. Peter School Principal

Christopher Ripp Program
The theme for this session focuses upon Seasons and Community. The students have listened to the story, Mouse's First Snow by Lauren Thompson. This was followed up with a snowflake craft activity. The students also listened to The Greedy Python by Eric Carle. They have a weekly lesson on religion, play outside, create arts and crafts, and so much more! Parents recently participated in a fire safety night and a math literacy night. Dr. Rella will be meeting with parents near the end of the month to discuss important health/safety information. The last winter session is on February 26th.
