Weekly Updates to keep you in the loop
What's Happening?
Week of Sept. 15th
This has been an eye opening week for MANY of us- myself definitely included! As I said in the beginning of this year- we're going to hit road bumps and obstacles- this week was our first test- and we WILL overcome this together. Don't allow your frustration to over take the good we have in front of us. Change is difficult, and sometimes just down right STINKS! I'm trying to think of it in a different way- Maybe instead of change- it's a "merging of ideas to create a "NEW" Haven! :) Hang in there- our schedules will come together; RTI will work itself out; and then we'll tackle our next adventure!
Tentative schedule for assessment and accountability results - AKA: K-PREP Scores!
The Office of Assessment and Accountability has established a tentative schedule for this fall’s release of assessment and accountability results from the 2013-14 school year. Next Wednesday, September 17, a webcast will be held for District Assessment Coordinators to provide the first comprehensive look at district data. We will then enter a time of data clean-up to correct any apparent errors prior to systematic issues. Pending no major issues, the data will be released UNDER EMBARGO on Wednesday, October 1, to superintendents in the morning and working media in the afternoon through the School Report Card. The embargo will be lifted and the School Report Card will go live on Friday, October 3, at 12:01 a.m. Again, these dates are for planning purposes only and are subject to change based on any inconsistencies found in the data through the quality review process.
New Haven University: Looks like we will be able to review some data on the 25th. I should be receiving our score this week. I'll be focusing on overall scores, as well as, how to read/ explain the report card to parents. I will be able to share it with you- but Please keep in mind that this is embargoed data, and cannot be shared with anyone else.
Science- DON'T forget to observe a bridge lesson in the Science Lab this week. Discussions begin Wed - Friday.
RTI- Rti interventions will not be starting Monday- it is our goal to have a complete schedule ready to roll out by Tuesday. You will be receiving all the docs / schedules that you need by the end of Monday.
PTA Drawing: Congrats to Cathy Cyboron and her "date" for the day Mari Beasley! :) We need to get together and see what time of the day you were thinking about; and then pick a date! I'm excited to get to be in a CLASSROOM for 2 hours! :) <3
Staffer for the week: Congrats to Sue Lind! You are the recipient of this week's staffer parking privilege! :) Thank you for your work with our kids! Enjoy
Dismissal- We're trying to get dismissal going a little more smoothly, although it's been pretty good. 4th and 5th grade will be dismissing from the end of A hall. PLEASE make sure you are monitoring students going to their buses and NOT trying to walk to the parking lot to catch a ride with parents. Parent pick up is still in the MP room. Thanks!
