Caring for Toddlers
Emotions of Toddlers
New Experiences
During the toddler age, a child experiences almost all emotions possible. These emotions can be quite intense. It takes a lot of time for toddlers to learn how to deal with these new-found emotions, so be prepared to be patient.
Shock
A toddler seeing something for the first time in his/her life might be quite shocked, exited, or experience anxiety because it was previously unknown to the toddler that said thing existed
Happiness
An often-shown emotion under toddlers is happiness. The cause of that happiness can vary often- a new toy, food, a new discovery or maybe even cute animals.
Sadness
Another experience a toddler might experience often is sadness, anger or frustration. They often throw tamper-tantrums because they don't get what they want. Another cause for sadness might be fright of new things or frustration from not being able to do something yet.
Being patient
Toddlers take great pleasure in learning a lot of new things and learning about everything in their environment. Their new abilities help them realize that they are separate beings from their moms and dads and other caregivers. This can create a lot of excitement about all the new things they can do and discover, but, can also lead to anxiety when they realize they can be left alone or when they see things that scare them for the first time. You have to be very understanding with a child during this time, as the child needs a lot of time to discover all emotions and learn how to deal with them. If they don't learn how to deal with their emotions during this stage in life, they might never properly learn how to do it.
