A Day the Beach
This week we had the grade 7 music concert with excellent performances by band, chorus, and orchestra students. I never cease to be impressed by the improvement and growth in their playing at this time of year. The dedication that these students show to their craft is truly amazing!
Also this week, our rocket club had their big launch! Over 15 participants designed and built rockets to launch out on the back field. If you saw some sparks flying around CMS - it was definitely the rocket club!
On Thursday we had the Citizen of the Month celebration breakfast. This magnificent event highlights those students in our school that consistently show what it means to be a proud member of the CMS community. They are kind, caring, dedicated, and take a leadership role in the school. It is truly a pleasure to share this event with students and families.
All this week students from our literacy and English language programs have been going around Norwood and sharing their skills. Several trips were made to the Balch elementary for CMS students to read with buddies and a group of eighth grade students went to the Ellis Nursing home and read with some wonderful seniors.
We ended the week with our honor band, chorus , and orchestra going to the Great East competition (and Six Flags) and adding about 250 extra students to CMS for the day through the grade 5 step-up and field day.
After all that, I know I need a rest and I'm hoping to get a bit this week (amid baseball, softball, soccer, and a 7 year old birthday party) and I wish the same for all of you!
Have a great weekend!
