Welcome to January!
2019 has arrived!
New Year, New....You get the idea.
December 2018 was a bit of a doozy in terms of weather and power, but all of that - all of 2018 as a matter of fact - is behind us. It's time to wipe the slate clean, start new reading challenges, and take 2019 by the wheel.
For the Upper Skagit Library, this will be a year of big change! A new staff member, a new building (eventually!), new materials, and new programs. There's a lot to look forward to, and our staff is very excited about everything to come. We hope you are too.
Thank you to everyone who supported us in 2018, who plan to support us in 2019, and beyond.
Here's to new things - cheers! *queue Auld Lang Syne*
New Building Progress
Progress on the new building has been slower than we would like, but we are indeed making progress. A new roof was needed direly, and the installation of that was finished quite recently. New doors, designed to keep out winter weather and small animals have been put in place and look great. We're still waiting on structural ceiling reinforcement, lighting, carpeting, shelving, and furniture. As of this moment, we're expecting to be ready for move in sometime in the spring. Keep on the lookout for our calls for help with moving all the books! ;)
We now have a YouTube account!
Last month at the Upper Skagit Library we...
...welcomed a new Library Technology Specialist - Loly Gomez!
We're very excited to have Loly here, and look forward to learning from her and benefitting from her experience. When you see her, come say hi - she's ready to meet everyone!
...made Story Snowflakes with Miss Brooke!
...held a Winter Wear Drive!
Upper Skagit Library Foundation Fundraiser
Brooke has partnered with Steve Johnson to create keychain replicas of the Concrete Silos! They're crafted using Steve's 3-D printer and come with an informational card detailing the history of the silos. The keychains are available at 5b's Bakery for a minimum donation of $5 per keychain, and all proceeds go to the Upper Skagit Library Foundation.
This month at the Upper Skagit Library...
