Parents this is a reminder that when headed North on Abbe Rd. you cannot make a left into the school’s parking lot. Elyria Police Department has been stopping cars and giving them warnings. You also need to make sure that you are practicing safe driving in the parking lot.


Winning Classrooms for Positive Behavior Ice Cream Treat Incentive for April

Grades K-2 - Mrs. Kuhn's class won with 21 tally marks

Grades 3-4 - Ms. Holliday's class won with 9 tally marks

Winning classrooms received tally marks for quality classwork. The focus for the month of May is positive hallway behavior .


We are celebrating teachers and staff this week. Thank you Northwood staff for your dedication and hard work!


Thank you to Northwood Elementary PTA for providing staff with treats for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.

May Calendar Change

May 27th students will not attend school in person. They will learn independently at home. Students will be assigned work by their teachers that can be completed at home without the need for computers or Wi-Fi. Teachers will provide students with assignments. While students are learning from home on May 27, teachers and school staff will be engaged in professional development on classroom strategies to continue supporting positive behaviors in our schools.

Students are also off on Monday, May 30, for Memorial Day.

District Informational Text Messages

If you haven't already, please take a moment to sign up to receive automatic text messages from Elyria Schools. This is a valuable tool in an emergency or when there's important, time-sensitive information to share. The service is free and opting in is easy. Parents or guardians simply need to send a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our district's short code number at 67587. Just as simple, you can opt out at any time by replying to one of our messages with “Stop.”

The text feature and the robocall system are tied directly a student's contact information that is on file with your child's school. Please make sure this information is kept up-to-date to ensure you continue receiving calls or texts from Elyria Schools.

Ticket Sales

Tickets can be purchased at the door no earlier than 5:30, and the doors to the auditorium will open around 6:30. There is no assigned seating, so trying to come before the house opens to save seats will not make a difference. Cash and card only can be accepted at the door.

Tickets can also be purchased online Between Monday, May 2nd and Friday, May 3rd.

Please use the directions below to order starting Monday, May 2nd:

1. Go to the district website at www.elyriaschools.org

2. Go to Performing Arts Center tab

3. On the drop-down menu, click on Purchase Event Tickets. (This will take you directly to the ordering screen)

4. On the ordering screen, click on Get Tickets and order tickets from there with a credit card.

5. The tickets can be emailed and/or texted to you. You will need to bring tickets with you on your phone.

Standards Alignment

By the end of the 2023/2024 school year 75% of teachers will design lessons that consider the point of view and interest of all students to enhance their learning.


Safe and Healthy Schools

By the end of the 2023/2024 school year, Elyria City Schools will improve 75% of students' sense of safety and feelings of belonging through health/wellness support, increased implicit bias awareness, and positive behavior programming as measured by a 30% decreased discipline referrals and 30% increased attendance.
