MATH
Unit 8 Home Communication from FCPS
Over the next two weeks we will focus on the following understandings and skills:
- 5.G.B.3 - Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angles.
- 5.G.B.4 - Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES
Social Studies Update:
Standard Focus:
- Describe the major settlements in pre-colonial America.
- Explain how geographic characteristics affect how people live, work, and the population distribution of a place or region.
- Analyze how native societies were influenced by the diverse cultures of the explorers and settlers.
Mrs. Johnson and Ms. Anzick's classes have landed in America and are busy developing their colonies. They are facing challenges hunting, fishing, and farming as well as dealing with the weather and learning how to negotiate with the native tribes. Mrs. Titus' class is sailing towards shore this week. Times at sea are tough! Ask your student to tell you more about their group and their thoughts on the experience.
