Principal Message
Greetings, Ride Families!
As we enter December, we focus on a new character trait - Kindness.
Kindness is one of the best traits because it can make the world a happier place for everyone. They can boost feelings of confidence, being in control, happiness and optimism. They may also encourage others to repeat the good deeds they've experienced themselves – contributing to a more positive community.
There are also several positive benefits to being a kind person.
· Brings you happiness.
· Brings happiness to others.
· Improves relationships.
· Enhances mental and emotional well-being.
· Releases feel-good hormones.
· Eases anxiety.
· Reduces stress.
· Is good for your heart
So, let’s give extra attention and reflection to being kind this holiday season.
We began the celebration season today with the third-grade financial literacy unit, Holiday Market! The students created businesses, products, business plans and the sold their items today. The fun part starts on Monday when the teachers must collect taxes!! LOL
As the special activities mount over the next couple of weeks, we tend to depart from regular schedules, there is excitement in the air, and special activities in the community and at home. It can be a good reminder for us all to make sure we eat healthy, get a good night sleep, oh – and come school dressed to battle the cold, warm, or wet weather. Please be sure to place your child’s name in jackets and on water bottles. We will be happy to return them to their owner – if we knew who they were.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Sincerely,
Megan Burnham

Thanks for volunteering!
Digital Payment Option for Book Fair
We have a great digital payment option that is highly encouraged for students to use. Parents can set up an eWallet for students, deposit money into it, and students will not have to bring money to school. Visit our Book Fair homepage at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/sallykrideelementaryschool
to open up an eWallet account for your child. Any left over money in the eWallet will be put on a gift card for your student to use at future fairs or online. If you have money left over from the last book fair, you can sign in to your ewallet and transfer the money to this book fair.
Teacher Book Fair Wish Lists
Teachers have a wish list of books that they would like for their classroom. If you would like to purchase your child’s teacher a book, each teacher has a box in the book fair with books they would like for their classroom. You can pull a book out of their box and purchase it for them. It is always fun to let your child deliver it as a gift to his/her teacher and classroom.
Thanks for supporting the SKR teachers and the SKR library!

Lunch Sign-Up
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are offering two options for lunch signups. You will have the opportunity to sign up to eat in the cafeteria with your child or outside in our gazebo/picnic table area. You will not be able to change locations after signup is complete. If you sign up to eat outside and it rains, you will be unable to move into the building due to limited seating. You may sign up for another day/time.
Each slot is available for two adults and the child you are eating lunch with..
Please see the schedule below for designated grade level lunch visitor’s days. Make sure that you sign up under the correct time slot for your child’s lunchtime. Each student may have a lunch visitor once every 3.5-week period. This ensures every parent has an opportunity to sign up. Remember to bring a valid id when you visit the building.
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are asking all parents with small children to eat outside in the gazebo area.
