A Peek Inside the Week - Nov. 11th, 2022
Veterans Day Assembly & Wreaths Across America
As part of the assembly, Ms. Leach presented the check for our "Wreaths Across America" fundraiser. Last Friday's "PJ and stuffie day" raised a total of $853.40. This will purchase 57 wreaths to be placed on the graves of our South Windsor heroes!
Board of Education Chairman Craig Zimmerman also joined us to help honor our ET veterans.
Please enjoy a few (there are MANY!) of the photos below!
This Week's "Gift of Time"
This week's Thankful Thursday "Gift of Time" was a win-win for all!
Classroom teachers were gifted with extra prep time (as a whole grade level!) and specials teachers were gifted with recess duty coverage. Mr. Kenyon and I were gifted the opportunity to engage every grade level in a lesson about Tony Sarg and The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!
Below we've linked the presentation we used which includes a video about the history of the parade, the picture book we read aloud, and a video taking viewers behind the scenes of the 2018 parade. We thought families might like learning about the history of the tradition so many of us will be enjoying later this month!
Eli Terry is planning to participate in several ways! ALL students will be encouraged to complete a "Random Acts of Kindness" BINGO board; seeing how many they can complete on Monday.
In addition, Grade 5 is celebrating by kicking off their annual Random Acts of Kindness Challenge. Between Monday the 14th and Wednesday November 23rd, they will be trying to complete 100 random acts towards, family, friends, and within their community!
Working together, we can all make the world a kinder place!
Lost and Found
A Our Lost and Found is GROWING!
A big thank you to the PTO and Tanya Sweeney for donating two rolling racks so we can keep our collection tidy and hopefully reunite students with their missing items.
Lost and Found will be out through parent-teacher conferences and the Winter Break. Anything left on Friday 12/23 will be donated!
Please encourage your child(ren) to take a peek at the racks for anything that looks familiar. They are right outside the Cafeteria, so they can visit when during arrival/dismissal or while waiting in the lunch line.
PTO Event - FLASH Food Drive
We wanted to really get our kids involved in a healthy competition that is about giving back and contributing to their own community. The South Windsor Food Bank helps so many families in town and we would like to give to them as much as we can.
Starting Monday 11/14 there will be grade level boxes in the Main Lobby and your child(ren) can drop their donations there. The final count will be done after school on Friday 11/18. The winning grade wins an extra recess.
Thank you all so much for your support!
Every week is a good week to share gratitude, but November is a month to be extra "thankful". Let's make it a goal this month to all share an, "Attitude of Gratitude"!
Share your gratitude for ANY member of our Eli Terry community using this quick Google Form! Your shoutout will be shared on our morning announcements, through a "shout out" card, and/or on the PTO Facebook page!
