Keeping Up with Kipling!
December 17, 2021
I hope you had a wonderful week!
The staff at Kipling School wishes you a wonderful winter break and a happy start to 2022! Thank you for all of the support we feel at Kipling and thank you for sending us your best children!
We had a pretty busy week this week. Traditionally, the 5th graders play the Kipling staff in a volleyball game right before winter break. Unfortunately, we had to change our plan this year due to the pandemic. Instead, our 5th graders had a tournament against each other! This turned out to be great fun and a lot fewer sore adults! The 5th graders showed their competitive spirit mixed with their good sportsmanship during the games! It looked like a lot of fun memories were made on Thursday afternoon.
Some of our 4th graders decided to start up a group that will spend their recess times walking and talking. They invited me to take a walk with them on Thursday. As we were walking and talking, Mrs. Cacioppo asked them what they thought we should call the group and they, on the spot, came up with the "Walkie-Talkies" and thus a new walking group was born! Their goal is to make it to 1000 laps!
The parties on Friday were a big hit! Thank you to the parents who were involved in planning and implementing these fun events! Ms. Clark and I spent some time walking around the school. The joy and fun from these celebrations was almost tangible.
The choraliers, the choir from Deerfield High School, traditionally come to Kipling School and the other buildings throughout the district prior to winter break to sing to the staff and students. This year, most of the schools held the event virtually, but it was still greatly enjoyed by the Kipling Kids and Krew! We have already requested a 2022 show live and in person! We hope we can make that happen next year!
Please enjoy and be safe during! See you in 2022!

OPTIONAL VACCINE DISCLOSURE FOR STUDENTS AGES 5+ (3rd Running)
Many families have recently chosen to have their 5-11 year old student vaccinated.
As a reminder, your child is not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after receiving their second dose.
You can complete an optional form in Family Access to let DPS 109 know that your child is vaccinated. This is the same form that was made available to students ages 12 and older earlier this year. Please click below to log into Family Access.
A major benefit of completing the form is that if your child is deemed to be a close contact to a positive case, either in school or outside of it, our contact tracing team will quickly be able to potentially rule out quarantine for those that have voluntarily disclosed their child’s vaccination status or minimize the number of additional tests required to participate in the test to stay program.
Again, filing out this form is entirely optional. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to communications@dps109.org and we will put you in touch with the appropriate department.
