From the Desk of the Directors
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up October 8 and 10. Please use the Sign Up Genius Links found in this newsletter to sign up with your child's homeroom teacher.
Whether students have homework each night or not, there is always academics that need to be practiced nightly. Researchers state and data supports the need for students to practice basic skills daily. This includes reading at home each night for 20 minutes and practicing basic math facts. Students in grades 1 and 2 should be practicing basic addition and subtraction facts. Students in grades 3 should have basic addition and subtraction facts memorized and be working on memorizing multiplication facts. Students in grades 4-8 should have all multiplication and division facts memorized. Reading and math facts are two crucial areas that all families can and should be working on at home.
You are invited! This Wednesday, October 9 at 6:30 pm Lapeer Community School's Superintendent will be here to share information about the LCS 2019 Bond proposal. We encourage parents to attend to become informed about the LCS bond. The meeting will be in the commons. Please see the letter in this newsletter with further details.

We need parents willing to decorate (can be very simple or as creative as you like) the trunk of their car, and pass out treats as student’s parade through the parking lot. If you would like to decorate your trunk and pass out treats, please return the volunteer form attached to this newsletter by Thursday, October 24 for our planning purposes. We provide the treats if you provide the trunk!
Wee Dolphins Program Has Openings!
Have you heard about our Wee Dolphins program? Wee Dolphins is a place for preschool-age children ages 3-5 years old to come and learn pre-reading skills, early math skills, science, and art. We also spend our days playing with friends and developing socially. We endeavor to have a balance of teacher guided academic centers along with play based/hands on learning experiences to give children a great start to their education. We also get to participate in all that Chatfield has to offer, including visiting the Willows, attending music class, playing in the gym, and enjoying the library with Mrs. Neuman. For more information, and to get your child enrolled, please email Alicia Kluck at alikluck@chatfieldschool.org, or call our ext. 222.
