If you were unable to schedule a conference last week, please call the school to schedule a time for your child's advisor.
A friendly reminder that students have a shortened week. All CMSD buildings are closed this Friday in observance of Veterans Day.

Sign Up for Family FAB LAB Saturdays
Fab Lab Saturdays are a monthly opportunity to allow the opportunity to learn and use a specific machine in the Davis Fab Lab, such as the laser cutter, vinyl cutter, the heat press, and other hand tools. This is the same machinery your student(s) use in their Davis thematic courses.
Each month will focus on learning one machine, and families will take home a product they created that day! THIS SATURDAY you will learn about and use the Roland Vinyl Cutter.
The first FAB LAB Saturday is THIS SATURDAY, Nov 12th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the DAVIS AM Fab Lab. To attend you must click here to sign up!
Join the Davis School Parent Organization (SPO)
Want to become a more regular support for Davis? Consider joining the SPO.
The primary role for parents and guardians in each SPO is to support the academic achievement of all scholars. The SPO encourages and supports parent engagement in a variety of ways, including helping to plan workshops and programs that are aligned with school improvement goals
SPO members can also volunteer at schools, help develop effective two-way school-parent communication, plan fundraising activities to support student events, and collaborate with the community.
To learn more about joining the SPO, please come to the first meeting! Two sessions are offered. Attend the session that is most convenient for you.
Where: Davis A&M 1440 Lakeside Ave

Social & Emotional Learning
Greetings,
One of the components of educating students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District is providing a safe learning environment for them. Here at Davis Aerospace and Maritime High School there is a conflict resolution program. Students were trained as peer mediators thru the Winning Against Violent Environments (W.A.V.E.) Program to assist in resolving conflicts and/or issues amongst their schoolmates.
We understand that conflicts are normal, we all have them. It’s how we deal with our conflicts that’s important. Mediation plays an important role in our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) services, as indicated in the CMSD Student Handbook.
As the coordinator for the SEL program here at Davis, I want to make sure you are aware and know how to access this service should the need arise. Parents/Guardians/Caregivers, students, faculty and staff can refer individuals for mediation. Referral forms are available at the school or you can contact me and I’ll create one.
We look forward to promoting a safe and healthy environment for our scholars to thrive in. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Leslie A Scruggs, S.E.L. Coordinator
