A Message from the Principal

“One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by.” — Jeannette Walls

Dear Parents,
What an amazing year! Thank you for your continued support as we strive to build a culture of learning and leadership for our students here at Parkside Elementary. It's been an absolute honor to be entrusted with your children this school year. For me, personally, it was not an ideal first year as a principal being on maternity leave for a big chunk of time, but the months I was able to serve this community were wonderful. I cannot wait to begin a new year with you all! Until then...
Enjoy time with your children - explore the area, take a road trip, try a new type of food, experience a new adventure and keep those Mustangs READING! Below you will find a link to the Leander ISD Elementary Summer Learning Site. If you need ideas for fun learning during the summer, this is your go to spot!
Have a wonderful summer and we will see you back here on Aug. 15th for the 1st day of school!
Have a great summer!
Mrs. Meeks :)

Summer Learning Site!
This website has been established to provide families with ideas on
how to keep kids thinking during the summer months.
Engage in a few activities or in all activities.
HAVE FUN!!!
Research shows that the summer slide in reading and math is real but preventable.
Engaging in mathematical thinking and reading activities can keep children from falling behind.

Dear Parents/Guardians:
All medication and diabetic supplies that have been left in the clinic for your student, need to be picked up no later than May 30 ,2019. Only students who have permission to self-carry their emergency medications, will be allowed to bring their medication home. All other students will not be able to pick up medications under any circumstances. They must be picked up by a parent or guardian. The district does not allow medication to be stored in the clinic over the summer so all medications not picked up by May 31, 2019 will be disposed of properly. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Have a great summer,
Nurse Caitlin

Adopt the Garden!
You're Needed!
We need help watering the Parkside Garden this summer. We are asking for families to volunteer for one week of garden care. Your week begins on Monday!
What does helping with the garden require?
- Please water at least 3 times over the course of your week. (Ideally 2 times during the week and once on the weekend.)
- Water the raised garden beds and sensory garden.
- Give the trees, bushes and plants around the garden a good soaking.
- Watering before 10am or after 6pm is best.
- Weed if you like!
**You are welcome to any produce that is ready for picking during your watering week!**
Contact Stacie Cary if you need help figuring out the water/key system! stacie@staciecary.com.
Thank you for your help - Garden club will start up next school year!
