TES Weekly Update

May 1, 2016

A Few Words...

Apparently April showers will also bring May showers! We have a soggy forecast for this week, but hopefully warm sunny weather is around the corner. After three weeks, PARCC testing is finally complete and teachers can resume their normal schedules in the regular locations! A big thank you to the make-teachers and the classes who've missed them for support. Also, thank you to Mrs. LaMonica, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Paskewicz for adjusting to their rooms being used everyday and to Mrs. Nass for supervising students in the library during testing.

The paperwork season is about to begin. We are looking into more efficient ways to manage the end of the year paperwork and improve the ease of access. Sharing folders with documents is an option, keep in mind you would need to make a copy of documents first before editing them.

Website Updates:

Kyle and I had been discussing the accessibility to features of the site, adding features, and ideas for changing the general layout. Make sure to check out some of the new "button" features which includes an Intranet button. This will eventually be accessed through login and have school documents available.

The curriculum committee has been evaluating the changes to standards as well as the text/digital resources grade levels are using to meet the curriculum. Science materials, as well as Literacy resources, are available to review and have been circulating. A survey will be sent out this week for input towards the materials.

Science Night:

The Science/STEM committee is in the planning stages of a Science Night for June 1st. This night is one of the "night events" to attend if you are planning to attend. We are hoping to display science related class projects, a special STEM guest, and STEM activity rooms. This night works well with the PTA BOGO sale and the Book Fair will be open and ready.

Teacher Appreciation

Janet will be returning to school from vacation on Tuesday, May 3rd. We have planned a special breakfast for Wednesday, May 4th and the PTA is organizing a salad bar luncheon on Friday, May 6th.

Congratulations to Kyle for his invitation to the White House to attend the Teacher of Year ceremony on Tuesday 5/3!
