Halo Highlight: Back to School Night is Aug. 28!
Dear Saints Families,
We hope you're looking forward to Back to School Night on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The schedule looks a little different this year, with the first segment of the evening largely geared toward new families. Parents received an email yesterday that contained the schedule below. **If you didn't see it, please check your SPAM folder. Students should check their SPAM folder daily, as some important emails unfortunately do get hidden there.**
We hope to see you all Wednesday!
5:45-6:00 p.m.: Social in the Commons - your opportunity to meet other families, sign up for Parent Guild, shop the Saints spirit store, get your 2019-2020 St. Louis Catholic directory, and drop off any items for the Golden Gala at the Golden Table!
6:00-6:25 p.m.: New Family Brief Orientation - Mr. Bradley, Ms. Orgeron, Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Atkins, Mrs. Ieyoub & Coach Neck will address new families.
6:30-7:55 p.m.: Explore Your Child's Schedule on a Dynamic Fast Track! This is your chance to meet all of your child's teachers for 8 minutes each. You'll get to know who they are, the content and focus of each class, and a little about the daily routine/what major projects your child will be doing this school year.
Academic Updates
AP Student Reminders
Dear AP Students,
I hope you are doing well. Please adhere to the following reminders:
Read and electronically submit your signed contract to your teacher (Google Classroom, Moodle, or Class Notebook) by August 26
Submit your signed contract to the Counseling Department section on your class level Moodle page by August 26
Pay your dues through FACTS by September 27
Also, if you are receiving an error message when trying to log into College Board or to create a College Board account, please know we are working on the issue. At this time, the direction we have received from College Board is that students MUST call the student line at 888-225-5427 to resolve the issue. College Board will not allow me to rectify the situation, as the issue pertains to student accounts. In addition, please make sure you are using the most up-to-date version of Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox. Internet Explorer will not work. Thanks so much for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Ms. Barrow
Dual Enrollment Students: Tuition & Fee Deadline is TOMORROW

Counselor Connection Newsletter Debut!
This year students will sign up for college recruiter visits in advance and receive passes to attend. Sign-up sheets are located in the Counseling office. Here's what's been scheduled so far (also listed under Announcements on the Counseling webpage):
- LSU College of Music & the Dramatic Arts – Friday, Sept. 6, at 8 a.m.
- Tulane University – Monday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 a.m.
- Northwestern University – Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 a.m.
In October, all our students in grades 9-11 will have the opportunity to participate in the national PSAT exam. One benefit of taking the PSAT is that students get the chance to see what college admissions testing looks like ... once we have the scores back from PSAT, our Counseling Team will hold outreach sessions showing students and parents how to interpret the scores and how students can improve on areas of weakness.

Faculty News
New Teacher Spotlight - Dr. Dena Matzenbacher, Ph.D.
We are very excited to spotlight the new faculty members who joined the faculty at St. Louis Catholic this school year! Next up in the series is Dual Enrollment Psychology 101 teacher Dena Matzenbacher:
Hometown? Lufkin, Texas
Teaching Background? I've taught at the college level for about 22 years, and at McNeese for 20 years. I've taught Dual Enrollment Psychology in the past, but this is my first time actually teaching on a high school campus!
Favorite Quote? Failing to plan is planning to fail!
Favorite Foods? Mexican food.
What will we most likely find you doing on a weekend? Other than church on Sunday mornings, I'm usually working on the weekends. I do take some breaks to spend time with my family, including a husband, a busy teenager, and a collection of pets. I also enjoy reading, watching movies, and craft projects.
Where do you most hope to make an impact at St. Louis Catholic? I'm most looking forward to seeing students get excited about psychology topics, and perhaps recruiting some really great students to come study psychology (or other topics) at McNeese!
Shout-Out to Mrs. Manns' Honors Physics Class!
