Busy Winter at PHS
As we approach the end of the third grading term, this will mark the middle of our second semester, and students are close to completing the registration process for next school year. We had a busy January and February assisting our current freshmen and sophomores with the new Ohio Graduation Plans. Recently, we administered the state ACT for our juniors while the sophomores took the pre-ACT. As winter thaws, we are beginning to make preparations for our senior events, as well as preparing for end of course and AP testing. As always, please reach out if we can assist you or your student in any way.
Junior Jumpstart
Junior Jumpstart is a time when the Guidance Team meets with members of the class of 2022 during their Government class. We use this time to start talking with juniors about the college application process including registering for the ACT, financial resources like LEAF, and the SuperMatch search tool found in Naviance. Junior Jumpstart meetings also emphasize a variety of alternatives to college like apprenticeships, trade career pathways, and the military.

Talking Careers with Mrs. Soeder
Career
You may have heard that during the fall semester, three students participated in the State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) course at Lakeland Community College. Did you know that during the Spring 2021 semester there are even more Perry juniors and seniors earning their STNA credentials? These students will be eligible for STNA positions where they can earn $17/hour. Learning the skills to become an STNA provides students with the chance to see if the field of healthcare is really for them.
Join us March 10th at 7:00 a.m. for an STNA Information Session with Mrs. Soeder and students who have completed the program where you can learn more.
The Career Mobility Explorer is a resource where you can search specifically for the Cleveland area to find opportunities to transfer the skills you have from one job to another higher paying position. This resource is designed for those seeking to advance their employment status by applying skills they already have. Many of the occupations do not require a college degree that are featured in this resource.
