Sacramento Kings Press Release

Earlier today, the Sacramento Kings hosted the Kings and Queens Rise Co-Ed Youth Basketball League championships at Golden 1 Center. With over 300 kids from eight Sacramento neighborhoods, the championship games celebrated a successful second season of the league.

The Kings and Queen Rise League, created in partnership with the Build. Black. Coalition and the Black Child Legacy Campaign, focused on providing a caring, positive environment for Sacramento youth through community building, sportsmanship, and resources for health and safety. During a nine-week season, 5th - 10th grade student-athletes came together to learn the fundamentals of basketball and provide a space for participants to address a variety of topics from mental health to conflict resolution and responsible social media use.

At today’s tournament, the Valley Hi team claimed the 7th/8th grade championship and the Meadowview team won the 9th/10th grade championship. Sacramento Kings Executive Vice President Tom Hunt joined today’s event to present the teams with their trophies and celebrate with all the players.
