Collective Commitment Corner
Hey, Pirate Team! Do you suppose we’re finally on track for good weather and continuity with our instructional days!? Fingers crossed!
February 18th and 20th and then March 3rd and 5th will bring us back to our cross-curricular team time and continued exploration of our student learning goals, experiences, and assessment. As we continuously work to “practice our practice,” we are growing ourselves, our students, each other, and of course, our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan for Tier I instruction!
Over our long weekend, I dug in more with my Concordia University work and my literature review. What I find reaffirming with recent professional learning studies is how Lesson Study, even variations of it as ours is, contributes to so much in our practice. Among others, check out these benefits, for example!
Teacher collaboration, collegiality, joint decision-making, joint ownership, and shared responsibility for teaching the students in our system
Development of teacher knowledge, practice, and professionalism
More explicit focus on pupil learning
Improved quality of classroom teaching and pupil learning
Thank you for all that you do for our students and for one another! Let’s make it a great week!
