-Roll and Record with 2 dice

-Discussed numbers that go after another number

Writer's Workshop

This week, we shared out Book Reviews with Mrs. Hamers and Ms. Olson's 5th Grade class! We also started our next unit of study: Small Moments! A Small Moment is a story that zooms in on one tiny moment. For instance, a student would write about going on a ride at Disney World, rather than the whole trip to Disney.

Reader's Workshop

The kindergarteners continued to read their just right books and look books during readers workshop. Kindergarteners read fluently with reading partners by automatically recognizing and reading sight words that they should be able to “read in a snap.”

We have been learning to tap out CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words such as dog, lip, cup, hat, jug, fix, cat, and lot. Encourage your child to take out their words if it's a CVC words.

We have also been reviewing our uppercase letter formation. Since the beginning of January, we have practiced A-T.

Classroom Supplies Wanted

Hi! We are in need of a couple things in the classroom. I know it's such a busy year but they would be appreciated!

- Packing Tape

- Method Multi Surface Cleaner
- Paper towels

- Disinfecting wipes

Thank you!

Box Tops

Just a friendly reminder that we are always collecting box tops! Send them in to the class and then the class with the most box tops wins a pizza party at the end of the year!

Mystery Reader

Want to be a Mystery Reader?

Sign up to be a mystery Reader by going to the link above! {it is now on shutterfly}

Mystery Readers are scheduled for Thursdays at 3:00. If this time does not work for you, email me and I can try to work something out!

Winter Weather Reminder

Thank you for sending the kiddos into school with warm jackets, gloves, hats and scarves. It's getting chilly out there and they need it during outdoor recess. Just a reminder to practice having them zip themselves up when they put their jacket on. Right around this age is when they should be able to do it independently!

Whether kindergarteners are just looking at the pictures, pointing out letters, or even identifying words, having books for children to look at is ideal to helping them become a beginning reader AND start to have a love for reading!

Follow the directions below to purchase books. Your purchases will also give our class “points” which I can redeem for books and activities to use in our classroom!
