LPS Fall 2020 Update
Elementary and Secondary
Commitment Form for Fall 2020
It is time to make a commitment to your child’s learning option for the upcoming school year.
LPS will offer both on campus and online instruction during the 2020-21 school year. To help you make the best decision possible at this time, we are including links to documents outlining our instructional plans, safety protocols, etc. Please note, that these are drafts as we may have to adjust to any new guidelines released by the Governor, TEA or the Commissioner of Education.
We ask that parents/guardians complete this form for each student by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 24th.
· If the District does not receive a commitment form for a student by July 24th, we will automatically assume that the student will attend on-campus classes. However, if it is the family’s intention for a student to participate in on-campus instruction, families are asked to complete the form accordingly by the July 24th deadline.
· Parents of new students who do not receive a commitment form will have a separate opportunity to make their selection.
This timely feedback is critical to LPS in preparing for the first day of school. The District must have data to work with when planning for master schedules, classroom space, the new Online School and how we can best meet the social-emotional needs of students when they return.
LPS understands that family sentiments may change as COVID-19 conditions evolve or if the District has to adjust its plans based on new insight or clarity from the state.
· We cannot accept changes to the learning option selected after August 5th as we need at least 2 weeks to prepare for the first nine weeks.
· There will be defined opportunities built into the school year where changes can be made to the educational setting. The school will allow more flexibility in moving from in-person to online during the grading periods should your preference change. One opportunity to move from online to in-person instruction will be at the end of the first nine weeks of school, which falls on October 22nd . More information will be sent to all parents prior to September 14 with information about the process to request a change from in-person to online instruction or vice versa. The District will communicate any potential changes to this process as soon as they are determined.
