On November 13th, the district health aides met to discuss the following topics; reclassification and their new role as health aide without the additional work of attendance, which they have been performing for a few years. The meeting discussed restructuring their duties with an emphasis on the medical duties they are required to do as health aides. Clerk Typist Attendance Training and Health Aides meet together discuss their new roles
On Thursday, November 14th, both clerk typists sat together with health aides to go over attendance duties which they will assume. The health aides and the clerk typist were paired per site with each health aide responsible for assisting the clerk-typist with transitioning into their new role with attendance. Vicky Quitevis trained the clerk typists on many attendance procedures as they prepare for full implementation this coming Monday. It was determined that the attendance aides will help train the clerk typists until they can assume their new role confidently. There were questions raised by the clerk-typist and Letty Zavala was invited to help clarify some of the questions raised. The meeting ended with both groups willing to work collaboratively to support each other in their new roles.

Administrators Learn from Lozano Smith and PLC
On Friday, November 15th Administrators and Directors converged at the Mission room during CDLT to learn more about accessing and utilizing Interim assessment data, their role in supporting PLC at their site and to listen to legal updates and student discipline refresher presented by Thomas Manniello. First, principals went through an interim assessment tutorial put out by the State, which covered how teachers can utilize data from their interim assessment results to guide instruction and provide intervention. Next, during our PLC time with global web-conference, the middle and high school principals and directors were split into two groups and locations. Each group listened to presenters relevant to their grade levels. Principals came prepared with questions to ask their presenters. The high school group came away with actionable items they will employ soon. Then, the entire group reconvened to listen to Mr. Manniello from Lozano Smith Attorneys at Law who shared with us new laws that are currently in effect and those that will be coming soon. He elaborated that educators need to be knowledgeable of these updates and ensure their implementation. A few of the many changes are as follows: Assembly Bill 2536 amends section 48900 of the education code to include "cyber sexual bullying" as a form of bullying via electronic means. Another, Gender Recognition Act provides a "nonbinary " gender option for state-issued identification documents to ensure compliance with the new Act.
