What an exciting week!!!! Girls Basketball will have their first round of playoffs and Boys Basketball closes out district contests. Our soccer programs are going full strength in district play as long as the weather cooperates. Baseball and Softball teams are working hard during scrimmage season. They are ready to hit this season out of the park!! There are so many individual accomplishments as well. FWISD is proud of the work our coaches and student athletes do every day!!! Happy Valentine's Day to all; stay safe and warm!!!

Campus Coordinator Highlight

Southwest Boys' Athletic Coordinator: Daron Franklin

Daron Franklin is the Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator of Fort Worth Southwest High School. He is the proud husband of Verlene Franklin for 14 years. They have two children: Myles and Madison. Coach Franklin looking forward to coaching Myles next year as a 9th grader at Southwest. His college football years were experienced at Langston University as a four-year starter and Academic All-American. He earned his Masters of Educational Leadership from Xavier University of New Orleans Louisiana. Finally, Coach Franklin was blessed to play arena football after his collegiate career with the Houma Bayou Bucks in the National Indoor Football League and the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz in the Arena 2 Football League.


Coach has been a football coach for 15 years. The majority of his coaching experience was in Louisiana, particularly in the city of New Orleans. He has been blessed to be a part of two-state finalist staffs in Louisiana: O.P. Walker High School(2002) and John Ehret High School(2015). He has also been blessed to be a part of many football staffs who coached numerous high school players that have played in the N.F.L. Most recently, Coach Franklin was Leonard Fournette’s Freshmen Head Coach during his 8th-grade year at St. Augustine High School. He was the safeties coach during Tyrann Mathieu's senior year at St. Augustine High School. This is Coach Franklin's second stint as a football coach at Southwest High School. His first stint as an Algebra 1 teacher, safeties coach, and special teams coordinator for two seasons 2016-2018. He returned to Southwest after one season as the safeties coach, recruiting coordinator, and academic coordinator at Little Elm High School. He and his staff are looking forward to building young men who demonstrate Sacrifice, Effort, and Commitment on a daily basis as they represent the Southwest Community.
