ATTENTION 5th Grade Parents
5th Grade Memories Baby & Current Photos -- Deadline Extended!!
We need your help to make the 5th grade Memories Program special for you and your child! We need one baby photo and one current photo of your child. Please keep these key points in mind when sending in photos:
1. They should not be larger than 4x6.
2. We may have to cut them.
3. Their 5th grade school picture can be used for the current photo.
4. Please write your child’s first and last name on the back of both pictures.
Please send these two pictures to school in an envelope with your child’s name on it. The teachers will be collecting the pictures. Please send in the photos by Thursday, April 18. Thank you!
We want to make sure your child's photo is included in the slideshow, DVD and hanging up for the program for all to see!!

PAYFORIT IS UPGRADING TO PAYSCHOOLS CENTRAL
PayForIt has upgraded their online payment platform to PaySchools Central. Strongsville City Schools will be transitioning from PayForIt to PaySchools Central during the week of Spring Break, beginning Monday March 25, 2019. Although this upgrade is intended to be seamless, you will have to register with PaySchools Central, using a desktop/laptop computer with your PayForIt credentials. The auto-replenishment feature in PayForIt will not be activated in PaySchools Central until you login to PaySchools Central for the first time. Once registered, you will be able to use the PaySchools Mobile App, which will need to be downloaded from your app store.
Please login to PaySchools Central beginning Monday March 25, 2019 after 10:00am to transition your PayForIt account to PaySchools Central. All current PayForIt account balances will transfer over to your PaySchool Central account once this process is complete.

LEVY INFORMATION
As you may know, Strongsville City Schools has a 5.9 mill, 5-year limited operating levy on the May 7th ballot - Issue 4. The passage of Issue 4 will provide our District with financial stability through the 2026-2027 school year.
Unfortunately, reductions will be necessary should Issue 4 fail in May. For our school, these reductions would include:
Indefinite delay of technology and textbook purchases for our students
Elimination of Student Council
Elimination of Kindergarten, 4th Grade (Historical Society), and 5th Grade (Planetarium) Field Trips

***Please note the following May 2019 events at the Strongsville Branch Library. Registration is required for most events. Please call (440) 238-5530 to register or for more information. Customers may also visitwww.cuyahogalibrary.org to register and to see more library event information.
**The Library and Administration Offices will be closed on Sunday, May 26th and Monday, May 27th for the Memorial Day Holiday. We will resume normal hours on Tuesday, May 28th.
Year-Round Story Times!
Cuyahoga County Public Library offers story time sessions year-round for children Birth to Age 5. Our story time sessions are on hiatus for the month of May. Please join us again for summer story times in June! Please call the library or stop by the Children’s Desk for more information.
State of the Art Recording Studio Open to the Public!
The Strongsville Branch Library has Audio and Video Recording Studios open to the public. Customers interested in using Garage Band, iMovie, and the Adobe Suite to create sound recordings, video recordings, and more are welcome to sign-up for studio time up to one week in advance. In order to use the studio, customers must first attend an orientation session. Drop-in orientations will be held on Tuesdays - Audio studio orientation from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Video studio orientation from 3:00-3:30 p.m. and Saturdays, Audio studio orientation from 9:30-10:00 a.m. and Video studio orientation from 10:00-10:30 a.m. No registration is needed. Discuss & Design: Millennial Book Discussion. For Book Lovers Ages 18-35. Wednesday, May 1st / 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Join our book club with a twist. Read the bimonthly book and come discuss it as we design something that complements the title or book cover. Books will be available at the circulation desk for checkout. Our May discussion title will be Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker.
Star Wars Drop-in Craft. All Ages. Saturday, May 4th / 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
May the 4th be with you! Stop in for Free Comic Book Day and create your own Chewbacca Puppet.
Star Wars Video Game Drop-in. Saturday, May 4th / 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Release your inner Jedi and challenge each other to lightsaber duels on the Wii game – STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED.
Teen Sewing 101. Ages 10 – 18. Monday, May 6th / 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Learn basic sewing skills and create a piece of abstract textile art. Participants will learn to identify machine components and thread a needle and will have the opportunity to experiment with different stitch styles. Participants may be recorded and/or surveyed to capture program's effectiveness. More information can be found at cuyahogalibrary.org/parent-options. Young at Heart. Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m.
Meets the First Tuesdays of the month. A book club for adults who love Children and teen books. Please register in person. The topic for the next discussion is Pax by Sara Pennypacker. When his father enlists in the military and makes him return his beloved pet fox to the wild, Peter, who has been sent to live with his grandfather hundreds of miles away, embarks on a journey filled with astonishing discoveries in order to be reunited with his fox.
Spring Perennial Exchange. Thursday, May 9th / 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Bring in your plants that you would like to "swap" with others! You will receive 1 ticket for every perennial "species" you bring in. Tickets will be picked at random which will permit the picking of plants! A great program to get something new for your home... for free! Please arrive early (6:30pm-7:00pm) to set out your plants, the raffle will start promptly at 7:05 p.m.
Just4You Student Friends. Ages 10-18. Saturday, May 11th from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

3-D Design for Adults. Monday, May 13th / 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Explore hands-on digital creation as you create your own design using the 3-D modeling program, Tinkercad! Your item will be printed on Cuyahoga County Public Library's 3-D printer, and will be available to pick-up within two weeks after the program. A valid email address and basic computer skills are required. Registration is required and begins thirty days prior to the class date.
Stress Management: Good Morning, Strongsville Speaker Series. Wednesday, May 15th / 10:00 a.m.
Please join us for our bi-monthly Good Morning Strongsville Speaker Series. Each month we bring a special speaker of interest to seniors and residents of Strongsville. Stressed is just desserts spelled backwards! Marlene Kurz, LPCC-S Southwest General Health Center Oakview Behavioral Health Services, will talk about what is already inside you that can help you lead a calmer, healthier, and more productive life. Parkfit Mall Walkers Wellness Talk: Exercise & Aging. Tuesday, May 21st at 10:00 a.m.
Join us the third Tuesday of each month for this special wellness talk sponsored by Southwest Hospital. Join Wendy Zullo from Lifeworks of Southwest to learn about the benefits of exercise as we age, what types of exercises we should be doing, and how to get started. The ParkFit Mall Walkers Club is a combined effort of Southwest General and SouthPark Mall in Strongsville. The Club provides an opportunity for community residents to improve their health by walking for exercise in a safe interesting and climate-controlled facility. This program emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls.
