Dear Parents and Carers,
Well, what a difference a week makes and here we are back in big coats, hats and gloves! This week has been a challenging week in school with 4 teachers poorly with Covid (although pupil cases remain very low). It has meant moving staff around and relying on supply teachers during the week but we have made it to Friday without having to return to bubbles so all is good.
You may have seen the new covid rules announced this week for use going forward:
- If a child tests positive on either a PCR or LFT, they need to remain off school for 3 days but can then return, as long as they are well enough and no longer have a temperature.
- If a child shows symptoms of a respiratory illness e.g. bad cough or chest infection type symptoms and has a temperature, they should stay off school until they no longer have a temperature and are feeling well enough to return.
- Lateral flow tests are no longer available for free and it is no longer recommended that children are routinely tested if they do not show any symptoms.
- If you are in any doubt, please contact the school and we can advise.
It has been lovely to have visitors in school this week. Early Years enjoyed Farmer Carl's visit on Wednesday where they were able to meet a pet lamb and a chicken that he bought with him. They asked lots of interesting questions and learned about new life in the spring.
We waved Year 6 Wolves off this morning for a weekend of adventure on residential at PGL in Lancaster. They are a hardy bunch so hopefully the weather won't cause them any issues and I am sure that they will make memories to last a life time before heading off to High School in the autumn. I am looking forward to hearing all about it when they return to school on Monday.
It was also great to have parents back in school for our parent consultation meetings this week. Although some have had to be rearranged due to staff sickness, it has been lovely for our teachers to be able to meet with you in person after so long online. Due to the numbers of pupils we have in school, we have to keep these meetings short but hopefully you will now have a good idea of how your child is progressing post covid and what additional support may have been put in place for those that need it. If you wish to speak to your child's teacher in more detail, you can do this at any point in the year by making an appointment at the school office.
This week we received the feedback from the recent MAT Trust survey that took place last month. Thank you to those parents that completed the survey. Our results were very positive although there were one or two issues raised that I would like to take forward to staff and governors. Once I have done this I will let you know more details of how we plan to address these.
Finally, I have noticed a rise in parents using the bus stop to drop children off in the morning. I understand that this is convenient but I ask that you please find somewhere else to park as the bus stop is in use by 3 school buses and we wish to keep our children safe as they are coming into school in the morning. Thank you.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Message from the Head Boy and Head Girl
This week there have been a lot of things going on in school. Some classes had cricket on Thursday and really enjoyed it. Most year 6s are going on the residential to Lancaster today and we hope they all enjoy it. We're sad not to be able to give out our certificates to some of our superstars but we have left them with Mrs Williams to give out for us.
The head boy award went to Rupert from Earthworms
The head girl award went to Scarlett from Hummingbirds
