Divine Providence School

April 28, 2022 Home and School Connection

Preschool just finished our earth day project. We walked around the school grounds and collected trash. We made sure to put the trash in the proper container so we can help take care of the earth.

Dear Crusader Families,

Welcome back! We now run into the final weeks of school, but there is still so much to be going on! It seems that some students are struggling with remembering how to behave in school and what is expected. Just a reminder that the school uniform is still in effect. This includes the appropriate uniform as well as your child's hair color and technology- smart watches, etc. Constant correcting of student behavior takes valuable class time away from our Crusaders. As a reminder, a student should never be texting anyone during class and iPads are only to be used for academic purposed during the school day. Your attention and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to our students who be receiving their First Communion tomorrow! We pray that this is only the beginning of many more opportunities to return to Mass!

All school service day! On May 11th, our School Advisory Board has prepared a day of service for all DP students. All students, from our youngest Crusaders to our 8th graders will have an important part to play. Would you like more information? Watch the video below see Mrs. LeTourneau talk about it on the Catholic Chicago radio show!

Also on May 11th, we will have May Crowning at the 8:30AM School Mass.

Here are some areas we are looking to improve this summer....

We are currently looking into replacing the school gym floor over this summer. With the addition to some new mats across the gym, courtesy of DP Athletics Association, our gym is going to look and function so incredible!

We will be replacing the school sign in the front of school. It will include an area for messages to community members as well as families.

The school steps in the front will be repaired and look like new!

Can you help our school grow? Some classes are nearing capacity! Share the great happenings to everyone you know. Breaking News! We have CHANGED the incentive program. For every new family you bring to register at our school, you will receive $100 off every monthly tuition payment. Being more than one family, receive more than one credit! (Exclusions apply, call the school for more details. You receive the credit for every payment while they are registered at our school)

Finally, as a reminder, per our family and student handbook, if your child is absent for 2 consecutive days, they will need a doctor's note with a diagnosis or a negative COVID test in order to return to school. It is important to know what was making your child sick if it is not COVID. Also, seasonal allergies are in full swing. We must have it documented in your child's health file, by a doctor if they experience allergies. If your child is sick- please keep them home. Never give a sick child medicine and send them to school.

Thank you for allowing us to be your partner with Catholic Education!

God bless!

Lynn LeTourneau

Teacher Appreciation Week

Next week is teacher appreciation week. Our teachers work and care for our students and families so much that we need the whole week to let them know how special they are and the gratitude we have for everything they do.

Please consider writing your child's teacher a short note, or even send them an email letting them know how thankful you are for all that they do for our students every day.
