Some Highlights from Week 4
Emory
"Some of the best courses I've taken online were ones that included various opportunities for interaction and communication with both the instructor and other learners. And there is a lot of evidence that students like "seeing and hearing" their own teacher in an online course....The presence of the instructor and other learners can create a feeling of connectedness and community within a course."
Dianna
"The online learner can feel a disconnect with the professor, and therefore may demonstrate difficulty with work completion. The facilitator needs to recognize the timing of student response in order to work with individuals."
Amanda
"I think that a faciltator CAN still be the expert..maybe not in direct focus, but still as a pivotal part of a class that keeps the students in orbit, so to speak. If students know a little about what I've done professionally, and how that ties to my passion for teaching online, I think that would help them to respect my role. "
