THE LION'S ROAR!
November 4, 2022

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRIDE LEADER
Hello Norris Lions!
We have had a very exciting week, kicking off our Winter Assessment season! We have added a new incentive for ALL students, which can be earned through tracking the growth students make from their Fall to Winter. Our whole school growth goal is 4,000 points! Students are loving tracking their individual growth on our school wide chart, and cheering on their peers for all of their hard work this year. When we meet our goal, all students will be rewarded with a special surprise!
Thank you to all families for supporting their students reading and math growth at home, as well as preparing for testing with a good night sleep, healthy breakfast, and arriving to school on time. We appreciate you keeping bed time routines and smooth mornings a priority during this busy and exciting time of year!

CONGRATULATIONS to MRS. MICEK. (Pre-Primary Montessorri Teacher)
A Norris parent had this to say about our AMAZING MRS. MICEK!!
"I'm in awe of the kindness that is extended to the kids in Mrs. Micek's class. We recently returned from a vacation and on the day our daughter returned back to school, she was giddy with excitement to see if Mrs. Micek was going to be on door duty to see her. To her great surprise, she was there... Mrs. Micek crouched down, arms wide open to give her a big hug. What an impression to make that by the sheer presence of you, brings such joy to another.
Our daughter also spent her beach time collecting fragments of sand dollars and unbeknownst to us, wanted to bring a piece back for each one of her classmates. I didn't have the heart to tell her no that morning. Without warning, Mrs. Micek ran with it. She looked up information about sand dollars for the class, made connections to their recent vertebrate and invertebrate studies, and let the class listen to ocean waves during rest time to pretend they were on the beach. She even packaged up each piece in a baggie because Florida sand was included in the "gift". Finding a way to spark joy in the little things is the refreshing approach Mrs. Micek has cultivated in her classroom.
In the spirit of "yes day" I know Easton is smiling down knowing Mrs. Micek made our daughter feel so special when a "no" would have been valid. Our family is thrilled Mrs. Micek is our first introduction to Norris Elementary and its community.
Thank you, Mrs. Micek... we are grateful to you."
