ABSENCE & TARDY POLICY
Regular and punctual attendance is crucial to your child's success in school. When students arrive late to school, it disrupts classroom instruction and makes it difficult for them to start their day positively. For these reasons, Brougham will be following a strict attendance and tardy policy this school year.
* Students may begin arriving at school at 8:00 a.m. each morning.
* The school day begins promptly at 8:20 a.m.
* Students who are not in their classrooms by this time are considered tardy.
You will be notified by letter and/or phone call if absences or tardies are excessive. Four tardies count as one unexcused absence. After seven unexcused absences, information will be submitted to the District Attorney's office for truancy.
Please help insure your child's success by making sure they are present and on time for school each day!
Arrival & Dismissal S.O.S.
Please make sure your child(ren) knows how he/she is getting home PRIOR to the beginning of the day.
Please call in any changes in your child's dismissal BEFORE 3:00 P.M
Please pull all the way forward before stopping to drop off your child(ren).
Please make sure your child(ren) are ready to exit your vehicle when you come to a stop at arrival.
Thank you for being alert and driving slowly through the parking lot for the safety of our children!!!
Summer Reading Records
Summer reading records (optional) are due to classroom teachers by Wednesday, August 22nd. Students who turn in a record of summer reading or who participated in the Olathe Public Library summer reading program will be invited to celebrate with a "Popsicles with the Principal" party!
School Breakfast Ensures a Nutritious Start Every Day
Breakfast builds better bodies! If your child doesn't have time to eat at home or they simply aren't hungry first thing in the morning, have them give our "Grab & Go" breakfast a try. It's a great option for all children, regardless of income!
Breakfast will consist of milk & juice, a muffin or breakfast bar, a fruit product (raisins, applesauce etc.) & a protein (cheese or yogurt). Breakfast will be served between 8:10 a.m. & 8:20 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose room. The Grab & Go breakfast is $1.35. Free and reduced prices apply.
Greetings from Mrs. Scott
Greetings Families & Friends!
I am Faith Scott and proud to be Brougham’s School Counselor! I am so excited to kick off a brand new school year with all of you! The kids are already getting in the swing of things and shining bright as Brougham Panthers!
I love spending time welcoming all and meeting our newest Panthers! I will begin classes next week on Thursday, August 22nd. I so enjoy getting to meet with each class every other week for a 30-minute lesson. The topics of the lessons will be based on National and District curriculum and standards surrounding the domains of social-emotional, academic, and college/career readiness development!
Additionally, I meet with individual and small groups of students to support friendships, conflict/resolutions, emotional challenges, family transitions, etc. I am a safe person and my office is welcome to all.
Finally, I love to support YOU however needed! Please feel free to contact me should you need any support and assistance for your family! I have a wide variety of resources and I am here to help!
Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, needs, or concerns!

News from the Library
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to a new year in the Brougham Library! We added some amazing new books in the spring, and are expecting many more very soon. We are excited to share them with the students in the upcoming weeks. Students will have weekly library classes to learn critical thinking, research skills, and to read some wonderful books.
Check Out Process:
- Kindergarten students can check out one book at a time while 1st-5th grade students can check out three books at a time. (Kindergarten will be allowed two books after winter break.)
- Check out period-ONE week.
- Students are welcome to return books at any time during the week and check out new ones. Every day is a library day at Brougham!
Help our students keep the books in great shape:
- Read with clean hands and use bookmarks.
- Keep books away from food and water bottles.
- Keep books in a safe place-out of reach of pets or younger siblings.
We are excited to share a love of reading with students, and strive to help them become successful, lifelong readers.
