These SCECH can be automatically uploaded to the individual’s Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS) provided the PIC number and name matches for both accounts. In order for the automatic SCECH transfer to occur, persons must receive and follow the directions indicated on the email sent from MOECS-noreply@michigan.gov . This email is time sensitive and was likely sent within the past several days so persons who have not seen it should check their clutter mailbox.
Professional Credentials
Michigan law requires that a person employed in a public school with instructional or other certain identified responsibilities must hold a valid certificate, license or permit. Both the Michigan Department of Education and Utica Community Schools Human Resources Department make an effort to provide timely notice of encroaching expiration for required credentials, however; it is ultimately the responsibility of each individual educator to monitor his/her own renewal requirements and timelines. Individuals are encouraged to regularly visit the Michigan Department of Education website under Office of Professional Preparatory Services for the latest information on credential-related requirements and renewals. Persons with June 30, 2020 expiring certificates should note the window for renewal opened January 1, 2020 through the Michigan Online Educator Certification System.
To date, District Provided Professional Development (DPPD) has been offered on August 27, November 5 and January 2. The January 2 DPPD may also be categorized as SCECH. Information regarding additional District Provided Professional Development for this year will be forthcoming.
