Parent Conference Week: November 15 - 19

We'd like to remind you about our upcoming parent conference week, November 15-19. During this time, TK and Kindergarten are on their regular schedule. First through sixth grade students are dismissed at 12:05 p.m. Thank you for arranging proper transportation, so students are picked up on-time. Conferences will be held over Zoom, due to safety restrictions still in place. We highly encourage you to attend all parent conferences and be a part of your student’s education. If you aren’t contacted and desire a conference, please contact your student’s teacher. Thank you!

LeGette's Annual Giving Tree! Please Help Our Families- Virtually!

LeGette’s annual Giving Tree is taking place now! The “Giving Tree” is a program that will help support our families in need during this festive season. We have a few LeGette families we would like to support with gifts for the children and food for the family.

If you would like to participate in this worthwhile effort, you will need to visit our SignUp Genius page to choose a gift off of the “Giving Tree.” As you browse through the options you will find information about the child’s gender, age, and a specific gift that the parent thought the child would like. You may purchase the specific gift or gift certificate anytime between November 11 and December 14, and return it (wrapped) to the Legette office. Special note: Please be sure to return gift with assigned number attached. This is very important!

Thank you for your support of this worthwhile program. SJUSD staff have found that this program has been very successful! Choose a gift from the Giving Tree and bring back your wrapped gift by Wednesday, December 14! Thank you!

Holiday Shop Returns! December 6 - 9

The holidays are coming and we want to help make the season even more special for your children by giving them the opportunity to shop (in secret!) for the perfect gift for Mom, Dad, grandparents, siblings and other important people and pets in their lives.

This year the shop will be open during school December 6-9. Students will have the opportunity to shop during their class visits and after school. Most gifts range from $1-$8.

There are a few COVID-19 mitigation steps that have to be adhered to in order to have the Holiday Shop open after school. We appreciate you following these guidelines.

  • Parents who enter must be vaccinated or willing to take a rapid test up to two-days prior to their visit.
  • Only a total of 20 adults/students in the library at one time.
  • Please stay in a "family group" when inside the library.
  • Masks are required to be worn at all times.

We need lots of help for this event and are looking for volunteers to help the students shop and wrap their special purchases. Please consider joining us! https://signup.com/go/KzsinWb

Volunteers must also fill out San Juan Unified’s new Volunteer Verification form.

The kids love to shop and their excitement will certainly get you in the holiday spirit!

Ton of Lost and Found Clothing Items- Check by November 19!

District: School Start Time Change Proposals for 2022-23- Decision on December 14

The San Juan Unified School Board discussed three proposals for start times. Based on initial Board discussion, Option C seems a far shot because it would require hiring a large number of bus drivers, when there's already a huge shortage state-wide.

If Option A were chosen, LeGette's start time would move from 8:45 a.m. to 7:55 a.m. (dismissal at 2:25 p.m.). [Carnegie M.S. would start at 8:55 a.m.). If Option B were chosen, LeGette's start time would move from 8:45 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. (dismissal at 3:25 p.m.). [Carnegie M.S. would start at 8:00 a.m.].

The School Board will be voting on which option to choose for next year ('22-'23) at their December 14 Board Meeting. You are encouraged to give Board Members input prior to this time.

See BELOW for the Board Packet Attachment.
