A Message from Our Principal
Happy Monday,
I know this is a very busy week and you all have a lot of conferences. Thank you for working with parents in order to fit conferences into schedules as I can only imagine what a task this is to make it all work, thank you for your time and concern. Please let us know if we can help you with any conference.
Here are a couple of reminders for this week:
- The first visit from the Fire Marshall went very well and here is the follow up he will be checking on October 17- Please remove any item from your classroom door- you can move to the wall (either side) next to your door but it cannot be on your classroom door. Thank you
- Wednesday dinner will be provided for everyone as this is our late day for conferences- we will set this up in the cafeteria on the back tables (Help yourselves)
- Thursday PTO will provide snacks and we will let you know where these will be set up
- Friday- DCD – reminder of sessions - here– lunch will be on your own, return to school by 1:00 to collaborate with your team

Early Release Schedule
Clear Touch Panel Updates
Here are some updates regarding the Clear Touch Installation:
- Panels are projected to be installed the week of Nov. 5th
- Carol Ann is working with a group of ITSs to create basic How To's and will share this information in our MES Staff Information page in Itslearning.
- The programs Notes and Snowflake will take the place of ActivInspire. They are on your laptop now, so feel free to peak around!
- Please email Carol Ann if your laptop is asking for a Snowflake update.
- If you have a FlipChart that you cannot live without, please send it to Carol Ann and she will do her best to recreate it in Snowflake or Notes.
- We will have a training during Oct. 30th's Talk About It Tuesday in the Media Center to learn about the panels.
- We will have a training on Nov. 6th to learn about the Snowflake and Note program.
- One website that gives you the basic capabilities of ActivInspire that you can use with the new panels is Classroom Screen. Check it out!
Action Item
Let Carol Ann know if the Snowflake program on your laptop is asking for an update.

IST Meetings REMINDER
On October 23rd, our Talk about it Tuesday will be our IST meeting for the month of October. I know you have A LOT going on between now and then, so just peek at this email and then file it away for later.
1. Please make sure that the RTI desktop is filled out correctly for all IST students. This includes notes from last meeting, interventions, baseline progress monitoring data
2. If you want to add kids to IST at this meeting, you will need to support this decision with either FAST data or behavior data. If the student was not screened in the fall with FAST and you would like to add them to IST, please let me know and I will show you how to screen them. I can also help collect behavior data, just let me know!
3. As a grade level, please create a prioritized list of your IST students using this document. Refer to the descriptions at the top to determine priority. When you are finished, please save it in the team drive>RTI folder>IST & SST folder>IST Meetings>October 23rd.
Action Item:
Complete RTI desktop for IST students. Prioritize list of IST students with your grade level before Oct. 23rd.
New Dojo Categories
Please add the following categories to your dojo by Friday, 10-19 and communicate it to your parents in your weekly email.
The new Dojo Categories are:
§ Hallway Behavior/ Not following Expectations in the Hallway
§ Recess/Playground/ Not following Expectations in the Recess/Playground
§ Bathroom/ Not following Expectations in the Bathroom
· The categories need to need to be 1 point (Positive Behavior) or – 1 point (Negative Behavior)
Action Item:
Add the new categories to your class dojo.
PBIS Corner
.1st Quarter Celebrations and Remediation
1st Quarter Celebrations need to take place on Thursday, 10-18th. The celebration outline is found in the PBIS 18-19 Folder on the Team Drive.
Also, one teacher needs to remediate any group of students that have had behavioral issues this quarter. You can use the SPARK lesson plans that are found in the PBIS 18-19 Folder on the Team Drive. There are several activities listed on each lesson plan that you can choose from for your group. You may also customize the your remediation plans to fit the behavior needs of your group.
Thank you again for doing a fabulous job this quarter with the new implementations of PBIS!!!
Action item:
Plan Q1 celebrations according to the document in the PBIS folder in the Team Drive.
Curriculum Corner
In planning, please remember to Deconstruct the standards.
o Deconstructing is the process of taking a broad standard and analyzing its components, then breaking the standard into smaller, more explicit instructional learning targets for use in daily teaching and classroom-level assessment.
· During your Guided Reading, remember to be taking anecdotal notes and giving running reading records.

Continue to deconstruct standards during grade level plannings.
