MCA Weekly Wrap-Up!

Primary & KinderPrep Family News - May 18, 2018

Dear Families,

This is the last Weekly Wrap-Up of the school year! What a wonderful year it has been! As we look toward next year, we want to encourage you to continue sharing the great word about MCA to your friends and co-workers. It has been a great year of New Beginnings, and as we continue enrolling new families throughout the summer, we pray that we can begin next fall with many new faces! In the elementary department we have a couple of changes to announce. Mrs. Lewis is retiring (see the note below!), Mrs. Orndorff is moving to 2nd grade, and Mrs. Redick will be teaching Junior High English. We are excited about new adventures and another year of New Beginnings!

Thank you for the privilege of being able to serve and minister to your children!

Blessings!

Mrs. Howell

Retirement Wishes

For those who haven't heard, Mrs. Janice Lewis is retiring from MCA after 21 years of service. We are sad to see her go, but wish her well in this new season of life. As an opportunity to honor Mrs. Lewis for the special relationships she had with so many of you over the years, we will have a basket set out on Monday evening, May 21st, at the awards night and we would like to make that basket overflow with cards of blessings from your children and families! Please consider bringing a card and dropping it in the basket on Monday night!

Elementary Awards Night Details

Monday evening, May 21st, we will have a special time to recognize our K-6 students for their achievements and character throughout the year. We will feature our 6th graders as they prepare to leave us for junior high, but each class will share a class Scripture and receive individual awards. Please have your child at CrossPoints Church no later than 6:15, dressed up for this special night! Important note, the students will be walking up and down the stairs to the stage, so be mindful that they wear shoes that will stay on and be easy to walk in. We are excited for this time to honor our students' hard work this year! There will be an ice cream fundraiser for the Select Choir following the event in the church foyer.

Backpack Blessings!

If you plan to purchase a new backpack for your child next fall, you can bless a child right here in Kansas City with the old one!

Mrs. Evans met a group of children who are refugees from Nepal last summer. She has seen God do amazing things in their lives as their families have begun allowing them to come to church and experience American culture from a Biblical worldview. It would be a tremendous help for them to have some school supplies next year. A used backpack is tremendously useful :) In addition, if your child plans to throw away their art supplies, we will bless these children with those as well. There will be boxes at the North and South campus where you can drop them. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus!

3 John 1:5 Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the brethren, and especially when they are strangers.

Save These Dates!

Families, we have some very exciting events coming up as we begin the final month of school! Please make sure you have these dates on your calendars! Also keep an eye on the classroom newsletters for events specific to each grade level!
