Supporting Students' Health Needs
Thank you for assisting Nurse Ann Marie with her guidelines for supporting students' health needs. Thank you for doing what you can do for students in the classroom before sending them to the health office.
Johnny Appleseed Day
Today is Johnny Appleseed Day. Here is a link for information about the history of Johnny Appleseed and his impact. Another interesting apple fact: Did you know the Honeycrisp apple was created at the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station's Research Center at the University of Minnesota in 1974? Please enjoy a Minnesota created Haralson apple from the University of Minnesota Apple House in the lounge.
EdCampMSP
Have you ever heard of the EdCamp model for professional development? I have attended seven EdCamps over the past few years and I have enjoyed my experiences. EdCamp brings participants together in the morning to create the agenda and schedule for the day. Participants suggest topics and volunteer to lead or facilitate discussions. Topics can be about anything relevant to participants; some topics are technology based while others are not. I'll be attending EdCampMSP in Minneapolis on Saturday, October 1, 2016, and I'll share my learning as applicable.
Homecoming
I attended my first Hopkins Royals Homecoming Game Friday night helping with concessions. It's been a while since I have felt an allegiance to a specific high school team but I am proud to be a Royals supporter! And, one of the the best parts was Hopkins won the game!
Data Meetings
I'm looking forward to the data meetings scheduled for the first week of October and learning from and collaborating with classroom teachers. Teachers, Melissa and I will send information this week about what you need to be prepared with and bring with you to the data meetings. Thank you.
I'm Out Tuesday, September 27th
Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 27, 2016, I will be out of the building. In the morning I will be attending the Superintendent's Leadership Team meeting at the ESC and in the afternoon I will be at the Minnesota Department of Education building in Roseville co-chairing the third meeting of the Minnesota Legislature's Student Behavior Work Group. This work group is meeting monthly through February at which time our recommendations are to be presented to the legislature.
