Macek's Memo

Weekly Report
Next week all items will need to be returned. Remember to bring the Volume 2 reading book, math books, ELA notebook, folders, and supply boxes (scissors, glue sticks, pencils, crayons) if they went home. Please make sure your child has working headphones as well.
Please be sure to continue the habit of charging iPads and remembering to bring them to school. We use them every single day.
Just a reminder that 3rd quarter grades are being entered. Remember that when there are not alot of grades, the grades that have been entered dominate. So, if a child did poorly on something and it is the only grade, their grade is poor.
Reading--Our story will be another narrative nonfiction one called Octopus Escapes Again! We will focus on ask and answer questions, central (main) idea, figurative language and text and graphic features. We will have a story quiz on Friday. We will be doing some IREAD practice as well over the next several weeks.
Math--We will finish up Topic 6. Due to all that's been going on, Mrs. Luce, Mrs. Davis and I met and mapped out the best way to fill the gaps before we have ILEARN testing in the spring. You may notice us jumping around in our math books. We are just trying to prep the kids the best way we can.
Spelling--Words focus on spellings with ir, er, ur, and or. The test will be on Friday as usual.
Social Studies--We are working on the Scholastic News issue with the Yummy Brothers. Science--We are on Lesson 3 of Material Magic in Mystery Science. It focuses on properties and phases of matter.
English--We be working on verb tenses next week. The kids can look over the keynote before the quiz on Friday.
