Activities to Do with Your Child
Labels
To help your child recognize words, begin making labels for every household objects and placing these labels beside the appropriate object. For example, write out on a note card the word "lamp" and tape the notecard to the lamp. Whenever your child walks past the lamp or walks to the lamp, repeat the word "lamp" to them. Pretty soon they will associate the written word with the spoken word!
Drawing
Allow your child to draw and color. Allowing your child to draw pictures allows that child to become more creative and foster a healthy imagination. Creativity should always be advocated for children.
Tracing Shapes
Your child should be learning to identify different shapes such as squares, triangles, and circles. Practice drawing these shapes with your child and continuously provide a name with the shape you are drawing.
