October 13th, 2016
Upcoming Meeting
We will start and hold our general meeting in the library. We will migrate to the cafeteria for our team building games, snack, and service project. You can pick up your child at the cafeteria doors at 5:00.
Meet Our New Officers!
President: Ashley Lehman
Vice President: Griffin Howe
Treasurer: Hayleigh Weatherholt
Secretary: Sarah Stommen
Sargent At Arms: Seeger DuRussel
Congratulations to these awesome kiddos! We are looking forward to watching you grow and do great work at our K-Kids meetings!
New elections for a 2nd round of officers will be mid to late January.
T-Shirts
Students can wear their K-Kids shirts to schools on meeting days, when we have events/fundraisers, or other special days. Wearing our shirts shows our unity as a club and pride in what we do! Our shirts also help bring awareness to our K-Kids Club and our presence in the community as leaders.
We will collect more order forms at our next meeting, October 18th. A link to the form is below. Your child can also submit forms to their teacher, Ms. McCaffrey or the office throughout next week. Order form deadline is next Thursday (no school Friday), Ocotber 20th.
Service Projects
At our first meeting, K-Kids made treat bags for our community officers (sheriff/police and fire/emergency). The treat bags had a special saying in it with candy as symbols in all the ways they help our community (ex. lifesavers, etc). Mrs. Kenney dropped them off at the Sheriff's Department at the end of September and said that they were very pleased to get them. They were going to deliver them to the village officers and fire department.
At our second meeting, K-Kids worked on part 1 of a community service project. For part 1, they made Halloween cards for the senior citizens at the Chelsea Senior Center. Mrs. Kenney said they had good conversations about who these senior citizens are, what they struggle with daily, and how our contributions help them. Next week, K-Kids will work on the second part of the project so the complete package can be delivered right before Halloween.
The gallery below are pictures from our first meeting's service project. Due to my absence and a Key Club member's absence at our last meeting, there wasn't a lot of time to take pictures at our 2nd meeting.
Snacks
Thank you to Mallory's family who is providing snack and drinks at our next meeting.
We now have 35 students in K-Kids and help with snacks and drinks are greatly appreciated. We currently have families signed up for snack up through our 11/15 meeting. If this is something your family can help out with, let me know and I'll send you a date!
We do have some peanut, tree nut, egg, and gluten allergies noted. We will always make sure there is a safe alternative for our kiddos!
Save the Date - K-Kids Induction Ceremony
We will take care of the beverages and paper products for the reception. We would like to ask each family to bring a dessert item to share. Ideas that have been brought in the past are cookies, cakes, pies, cupcakes, muffins, pastries, etc. Some items have been homemade and some items have been purchased at the store. With each family bringing one item (even if you have multiple students in the programs), we will have plenty for everyone.
Invitations for this event will come home with students after our meeting on Tuesday.
Thank you!
