A few students still need to finish over the weekend but most are done. They have posted it on KidBlog or you can find it in their Google Drive. Each student also created a presentation on some different root words. These projects are still a work in project. They will be completed next week.

Mid-terms went home today please sign and return them by Tuesday.

A note from the nurse

From the Health Office:

Winter is the time when many students do not drink as much water as they do when it is warm…which results in many chapped lips! Please send some Chapstick in with your child so he/she can keep their lips moist during the day. Also, please continue to send water bottles as drinking plenty of water is just as important in the winter. Thank you!

Literacy by Lisa

This week in literacy we have been reading My Brother Martin. It is written by MARTIN LUTHER KING'S SISTER. That is so exciting! Isn't it? It's about M.L.'s ( Martin. He is named after his Daddy ) childhood. We've been working on conjunctions. A group made a Thing link for conjunctions. To see it, click here

We've been working on cause and effect. You know the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie? Well, Mrs. Price's and Mrs. Hassels have been writing a parody of it. Here is the title: If you give _________ a ____________. Click here for an example

Mrs. Price's class have been working on helping verbs. During sentences we have to put a star above verbs If we miss one, she turns on this song or this one

It had a bunch of different questions that were easy and hard.On Friday we got our math test back and I only got TWO WRONG!!!!!! YEA!! We also went over our math boxes and I only got one wrong. Okay Bye!!!!!

Mrs. Price's Math Class by Haden

This week my math class was working on the unit 7 day 1-4 common core math and we were working on some practice buddies, solve and shares, and Quick checks, and we were also doing the today's challenge only if we had time to get to it. One day of the week our math class didn't have math! We didn't have math because more than 2/3 of our class wouldn't make it because of activities we had that day right after skill building. My class had to do a test, but I don't know what Mrs.Hassels' class or what Ms.Reibock's class had to do. On Friday we did the Math practice and problem solving worksheet and the 7.4 practice buddy which the last question was hard, but the third one was just a little tricky otherwise it was easy. That is all for my math report. Bye.

*A note from Mrs. Price - For this unit in math the class is using the Envision math program which is on the Chromebook. There are many options available within this program. The practice buddy homework is done right on the Chromebook. One of the nice options for this way to do the homework is the fact that when a child gets a problem wrong they then complete another similar problem. They also have videos and other tools to use right on the document that they can use to solve the problems. As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Science by Bharathi

On Monday in science we finished making our Vex cars. The cars looked funny but we will be adding on to them later. On Tuesday we started to test our cars in the Vex lab.We tested how fast the cars can go down a ramp from certain points on the ramp.On Wednesday the groups that did not finish the testing finished and found the average for the times. On Thursday we did the collision lab in the Vex lab .We added a rod and washers to put in the middle of the car.We described what happened when the car hit he wall in our packets. Lastly on Fridaywe discussed the two activities that we did with the Vex cars in the Vex lab. And that's it for this week,I hope you like my report on science!

P.E. by Daisy

On Monday we did running day. On Tuesday, Wednesday, andThursday we did dancing. For dancing we did the electric slide and we did other dances that the gym teachers found on YouTube for different songs. Two of the songs were Call Me Maybe and Timber. On Friday we did peaceful playground. If you don't know what peaceful playground is, it is where there are 4 square games, champion ball, hop scotch, and jump ropes. (Sorry the newsletter is small. It's small because all week we did dancing.) These are a few pictures I took in gym.

Music and Art by Quinn

On Monday, we practiced a song that was called, "Don't let the wind blow." we practiced it a lot even with instruments! On Tuesday, we practiced more, and we played a game called black snake. It is where one person hides a snake (fake) and then we sing piano when they are far away from it and we sing sing forte if they get closer! On Wednesday, we practiced and nailed it eventually, with all of the instruments. On Thursday, we were adding instruments to make weather sounds of thunder and lightning, so we gathered instruments to make a weather tune in the back-round. Today, it was Friday and it was art, and we practiced op art. it stood for optical art. Do you like to draw?
