Happy Earth Day!
Our Earth Unit
Mrs. Ackenbom's Littles learned more about our planet this week. We sang songs about going green and how things grow in springtime. We read poems about how the sun stays in one place in our solar system and the Earth rotates and revolves causing day and night and 4 the seasons. We listened to stories about what Earth is made of and how to conserve our limited resources and use alternative energy sources and are having a blast with our Lorax unit! Additionally , we but put a huge emphasis on teamwork and learning from one another this week.
We shared with one another how we would help the Lorax "speak for the trees!"
Safari Park Field Trip - We had a wonderful time. llamas, tigers and monkeys...oh my!
We are activists!
This week we helped clean our school and surrounding land. Here we are cleaning our playground!
Literacy and learning with a love for the land!
This week, we discussed Earth Day and also read about dandelions to learn more about military kids in April, the month of the military child. Military kids are like dandelions...they grow wherever they are planted! Purple up and talk with your first graders about sacrifices our military makes to serve America.
Math Madness!
Sight Words, reading in context, and word patterns
This week, Littles are continuing to focus on sight words, reading in context with leveled readers, and word patterns to prepare for second grade. We also read more about bunnies and wrote stories imagining we were the Easter bunny hiding eggs for children to find. :}
