El Zumbido Semanal Week of 2/12
KACD Weekly Newsletter for Teachers & Staff
¡Hola KIPPsters!
Hope you had a great week, and I hope that Equity and Data Day today was productive for you! We had so many visitors this week - from Sehba on Tuesday to the TFA cohort on Thursday. And, they were all so impressed with what they saw. They specifically mentioned clear evidence of our priorities based on our strategic plan, strong lesson internalizations, no opt out, strategic questioning, the use of student accommodations in class, and so much joy! Thank you for creating experiences like this every single day for our students.
Next week will be a super fun week as we celebrate Friendship with our students on Wednesday for Valentines Day. Can't wait! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing each of you on Monday!

Shout out to Shakelya Simon and Sofia Papa for leading the tour with Sehba this week! They are the first APs in KTX to lead a tour with Sehba, and they represented our campus so well! We are all so fortunate to have such incredible leaders on our campus! - Kelly Doyle
Shout out to Natalie Sifuentes for advocating for more equitable and culturally sensitive curriculum and assessments. In her work as a Regional Equity Fellow, Ms. Sifuentes shared her concerns with the wording and questions of a recent Wheatley Reading Checkpoint. She received the following shout out from the KTX Deputy Chief of EDIB: "This is a great example of utilizing your leadership to be empowered to make things better and more equitable for kids, and to show how it can reverberate throughout a system, cascading to positively impact even more than you may initially know. Bravo and let me know if you have any feedback or next steps you would like to discuss." Thank you, Natalie! - Kelly Doyle
Thank you to Jenifer Medina and April Saldierna for leading an incredible PreK family information session on Thursday! - Kelly Doyle
Staffing Update! Please welcome Alexis Ornelas, KACD Mental Health Counselor!
We are so excited to share that Alexis Ornelas has joined our team as our new mental health counselor! Ms. Ornelas has previously supported students in Comal ISD, has worked with APD victim services and has served as a youth development leader. We were extremely impressed with her compasion, empathy for students, her flexibility in prioritizing supporting students who have the most need, and her desire to build strong relationships with students and staff.
