Dear Families,
Welcome back! It was a pleasure seeing all of our Rose students throughout the past few days in the halls, in classrooms, and outside at recess. Students had lots of stories and memories to share about winter break and it seems like they have now adjusted back to waking up early again! I am so glad that the weather is warming up a bit as students love to go outside and need fresh air, but the arctic temperatures definitely put a damper on that fun! Please read below for important school and district news.
Dress for the Weather - please remind your children to dress appropriately for the winter weather. Students need to wear jackets, mittens/gloves, hats, and in order to play in the snow, snowpants and boots. Please note that we will go outside for recess if the temperature and wind chill are above zero degrees Fahrenheit. We use this guidance when determining if students go outside for recess.
As a reminder, if your child has any flu-like symptoms, please keep your student home from school and call our school nurse. Mrs. Johnson can be reached at jajohnson@barrington220.org and her phone number is 847-842-2151. Additionally, Bridget Heroff, our District Nursing Coordinator, will be supporting our school during this transition time. Her email is bheroff@barrington220.org and her phone number is 847-842-3570.
COVID Updates - We have ten positive student COVID cases reported at Rose School this week and twenty students in quarantine. We have no positive staff cases to report. You can also check the district COVID Dashboard for up-to-date district COVID information if you have additional questions about positive cases and quarantines.
5th Grade Basketball - Congratulations to the Rose Boys Basketball Team on their victory last night! Both the boys and girls teams demonstrated great effort and teamwork and were very excited to represent Rose School at their respective games!
5 Essentials Survey - Please click here to read about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. The access link to take the survey is included in the letter. Your participation and feedback is valued and appreciated.
Have a great week and enjoy the extra day off for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 17th!
Warm Regards,
Heather Schumacher

Substitute Teachers
The shortage of substitutes statewide is affecting all schools in our district. If you or anyone you know is qualified, please follow the link and fill out an application today! Please note, a valid licensure through the Illinois State Board of Education is required to work as a substitute teacher in the classroom. Questions? Contact Monica Shore at mshore@barrington220.org.
Lost & Found
The Rose Lost & Found is overflowing. Please remind your children to look for their lost belongings in the Lost & Found which is located in the house on the south side of the cafeteria.
Help us get lost belongings back to your children by putting their names in their jackets, hats, snow pants, boots, lunchboxes, water bottles, etc.
Lunchroom Volunteers
We are looking for help in the lunchroom. Please consider volunteering for a day to supervise and help us maintain our safety protocols as students eat lunch. Your consideration is much appreciated! Sign up HERE for JANUARY.
