Start of School Information

Daily Routines

ARRIVAL

If your student is not riding the bus, do not drop them off before 8:55 AM as there will not be adult supervision before that time. School starts at 9:05 AM.

* Tardy students arriving after 9:05 AM will need to enter through the main school entrance.

All students are eligible for free breakfast and/or lunch. Breakfast will be available in the classroom as they arrive and eaten in their rooms. They can let us know in the morning if they want to order a lunch.


Students can head directly to the outside entrance of their classroom, like last year, when dropped off after 8:55. If they are not sure where their classroom is located, that is okay. Those students can come directly into the main entrance at the front of the building and staff will escort them to their classrooms.



LUNCHES

We will run three lunch periods with each followed by a recess. Students will eat in the cafeteria with appropriate social distancing. They will wear their mask during lunch whenever they are not seated and eating. When getting their lunch, throwing trash away and heading outside for recess students will be wearing their masks.


RECESSES

All students will have one recess attached to their lunch schedule, and an additional recess during the day. Unless it is raining really hard, count on your child ALWAYS being outside for those recess times. That means, coats and rain gear as appropriate. We think it is important for students to be outdoors getting fresh air and exercise, especially since they will be able to take their masks off during these breaks.


DISMISSAL

Students will be dismissed through their classroom outside doors in most cases. Those students who are riding the bus home will gather into the gym until the bus arrives to pick them up. Staff will escort those students to the bus when it arrives.



PLEASE NOTE that the first several days of school, our routines may be a little bumpy as we encounter unforeseen obstacles and problem solve to address them. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work out the challenges that may arise over the next few weeks.



Virtual Back to School Night

This year we will once again have a Virtual Back to School Night. This will be on August 31st from 4:00-5:00. We will be sending out the link on Tuesday.


Chromebooks

If you have not already turned in your child's Chromebook, please send it to school with them that first week along with the power cord. We will be making sure that everyone has a Chromebook that will work for the needs of their grade level. We will exchange the chromebooks on September 9th.
