This week, we will begin our unit on Financial Literacy. Students will be introduced to a variety of concepts and vocabulary. Chromebooks will need to be charged and ready to go each day!

Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons


We will continue to study the universe in our unit “To Infinity and Beyond”. Students will continuously be working on their final portfolios.

Focus for the week:

Pre-AP Math ~ Mrs. Justice and Ms. Gregg

  • This week we will begin working on Unit 4. This unit covers Expressions, Equations, and Relationships. This week, we will be studying exponents and prime factorization.


    • Ms. Gregg will have a sub on Friday.


  • STEAM Math ~ Mrs. Justice

    Students will continue working on the Research Plots Blueprint unit in estudio. They will continue working with their groups to design a research garden for our school. Throughout this unit, students will learn how to convert measurements, generate equivalent forms of fractions, decimals, and percents, and solve real-world problems involving percents.


    Students will do a short knowledge check each day to check for understanding from the previous day.

    Accelerated Math ~ Mrs. Fisher (Whitfield)

    • This week we will continue our Geometry Unit with Transformations on a coordinate plane.

    • Students will explore translations, reflections, and rotations.

    • Having extra graph paper this week will be a huge help!

    • Don’t forget to bring your journals every day!

    • Next week we will move into Dilations which will also be included with Transformations on the next test (February 3).

    Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, and Mrs. Strother

    • Test Tuesday on summarizing and making connections between and across multiple texts with providing evidence.
    • Students will prepare for literature circles to begin the week of Jan 23.
    • Students will prepare for World cultures test on European geography Jan 23.
    • Interventions and enrichment will begin Wednesday.

    Art ~ Mrs. Beam

    We just wrapped up our introduction to oil pastels and will be continuing to work through our unit focusing on Impressionism, Biomes, and Color. Students will complete research and sketches for final artwork.


    The 2017 STEAM Art Show is set for March 3, 2017! The reception will take place from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in the STEAM Cafeteria. At the show, refreshments will be sold as well as select artwork by each student provided by Artomé. These pieces are matted, framed, ready to hang. Each will be sold for $35. The funds will go the STEAM fine arts department. We hope you can attend and see the amazing work done by our STEAM Wolverines this year!

    The BISD MS District Solo contest is Saturday January 21st during the morning at Kerr MS. Detailed performance schedules should be out very soon.
