Howdy Wilkerson Family!
Texas students entering 7th grade are required to have two additional immunizations prior to the first day of school. One dose of Tdap (Tetanus Diphtheria and Pertussis) is required within the last five years and one dose of MCV4 (Quadrivalent Meningococcal Conjugate) is required on or after 10 years of age. Many students may have already received one or both of these immunizations. Please review your child's immunization record or contact your child's healthcare provider to ensure your child has the required immunizations. Our school nurse is available if you have questions or need to update your child's immunization record. Taking care of these immunization requirements now will help facilitate a smooth transition to Jr. High.
This year due to COVID regulations and distancing guidelines we will be unable to view the Growth and Development video as we have in the past. Instead, we encourage parents to take time to have your students view these at home. The link below will take you to the same program as we use in our schools but this one is geared to parents! Please have your student view the "Always Changing" videos specific for girls and boys.

The Latest From the Library📚❤️
Scholastic Book Fair
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/wilkersoncisd
Students only visit the library with their Language Arts teacher on their library day every other week. At this time, students may renew books or check out new ones. Students are also able to place library books on hold through our online catalog and those books are delivered every morning. Click on the following video link for a reminder of how to place your books on hold through Destiny Discover:
https://www.loom.com/share/27427679780a44df9a87dd37a6876fcd
Next week is 6th grade library week. Students with overdue books will not be able to check out new ones.
Virtual students are able to place holds in Destiny Discover at any time. If your child places books on hold, please call or email me and let me know what day you are able to pick up the books from the front office and I will have them ready for you.

FREE Audio and eBooks available to all Conroe ISD Students
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Conroe ISD is committed to bringing unique learning opportunities to our students and we are pleased to introduce a new, free reading service providing digital books through Sora, the student reading app.
Why Sora? The collection of titles in Sora is an extension of Wilkerson’s physical library, only it’s in an app with 24/7 access to ebooks and audiobooks. It’s convenient for students to check out titles at home, on the weekends or during school breaks with no worry about misplacing a book or running up late fees – these digital titles automatically return at the end of the lending period!
Sora can help students of all ages read more and improve comprehension. Struggling or reluctant readers, learning-challenged, second language learners, and gifted readers can all benefit from this service.
· Enrich vocabulary and improve comprehension and pronunciation
· Introduce students to books above their reading level
· Teach critical listening
· Help busy kids find time to read
· Incentivize reading with fun avatars and achievements
· Allow easy access to Montgomery County Public Library collection, too! (in the Sora menu select: +Add a public library) .
You must have a public library account to do this. How does it work? Download the free Sora app from the Apple App story, Google Play Store or visit soraapp.com, borrow with Conroe ISD SSO login and enjoy anytime, anywhere on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Whether a student’s interest lies in classics for required reading, or the latest popular juvenile or young adult fiction, they can find it all in Sora!
Where can I find more information? Students were introduced to Sora before the Winter break during their library time. If you need more information, please contact me in the library at 832-592-8915 or mwetzig@conroeisd.net.
Sincerely,
Monica Wetzig Wilkerson Librarian

FUTURE KNOX PARENTS 2021-2022 WE NEED YOU!!
Knox PTO is an all-volunteer organization that relies on volunteers to make our school events, programs, and fundraisers a success. We have PTO board, chair and co-chair positions open for the 2021-2022 school year that vary in commitment level.
What’s involved in volunteering? Just a little bit of your time! Junior High PTO is typically more flexible and requires less time. We strive to make all of our PTO volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated! We are a fun bunch of parents and educators with a common goal and commitment to make Knox the best possible school it can be by supporting all Knox students and staff.
