Who Invented it and when was it invented?
Gun Powder, also known as black powder, was invented during the Tang Dynasty, around 850 AD. The purpose for the invention was just an accidental discovery. An enterprising alchemist discovered it, his name is unknown.
Why was it invented?
The invention of gun powder was an accident, when an alchemist mixed 75 parts saltpeter, with 15 parts charcoal and 10 parts of sulfur, a reaction occurred that caused many of the workers to be burned and the building they were working in was burned down.
How does it work?
With the sulfur, saltpeter and charcoal combined, it causes a chemical reaction that causes an a explosion of fire and noise like a "boom."
