Jordan/Jackson News You Can Use
January 11, 2022
Student Arrival
Student Breakfast: 8:00am
Student Supervision: 8:05am
A friendly reminder that students can enter the building at 8:00 am for breakfast in the cafeteria and 8:05 am to go to their classrooms. Please consider this schedule before dropping your child off at school. With temperatures dropping, we want to avoid students being outside for an extended period of time. We work to get students into the building on these especially cold days if they are outside early, as best as we can.

SOME IMPORTANT MESSAGES FROM OUR NURSES
Bundle Up - Winter weather is upon us and recess remains outdoors unless it is inclement weather. Students need to wear appropriate clothing to school (no shorts) including winter coats, hats, gloves/mittens. Dress in layers. Some of the new fabrics for cold weather give you the warmth of layers without all the bulk. If your child needs a winter coat, contact your school nurse for assistance.
Dressing for the weather also ensures students stay warm in the event of a fire drill or bus breakdown during the cold winter months.
Waterproof kids’ skin – Children have soft delicate skin and it is important to use moisturizers or Vaseline and wear mittens when playing outside. Humidifiers help replace moisture in the air for kids who have a tendency to get nosebleeds. Don’t forget the sunscreen, sunburns occur even in winter.
Be careful with sleds, skis and ice skates – Wear helmets to protect against brain injury. Sled safely in open areas away from trees and traffic. Invest in a professional lesson before skiing and use equipment properly.
Don’t play with fire – Kids love to get close to a warm fire after a day of playing outside in the cold. Make sure you have a fireplace screen and that it is firmly attached. Smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide detector that work are important – check batteries. Use space heaters cautiously and turn off when leaving the room. Develop a fire safety plan as a family and update it annually.
