Message from the Principal, Cristina Raskovic

We have finally entered Fall and with it some cooler temperatures (hopefully). It is hard to believe we have already started the 3rd month of the school year and are nearing the end of the first trimester. Thank you for all your support and working with us as partners for your child's, our students', education. Please read the following information and upcoming reminders for the month of October:

We will launch this theme with the See Something, Hear Something, Say Something campaign. Please review our calendar for weekly activities and themes to promote awareness for school safety.
  • Make-up Pictures: This Wednesday is Make-up Picture Day. Studio 1 has communicated that many student pictures will need to be retaken do to incorrect photo exposure. Your child was provided a notice on their picture package if they are in need of retaking their photo. For all students whose photos will be retaken, please send the photo package back with them and message your child's teacher to let them know your child will be retaking their picture. Students who were absent on September 1st or who were not yet enrolled will also be taking a photo on Wednesday.

The first meeting of every month is Coffee with the Principal where we share updates and information regarding our school. Each Tuesday after are parent workshops geared towards behavior, social emotional, and academic strategies to support students at home. We also offer a zoom option to parents who are not able to join us, however, Spanish interpretation is only available in person.

Our Great California Shake Out drill will be held on Thursday, October 20th at 10:20AM.

Meet Our Staff - 6th Grade Team

Our 6th grade team is made up of Mrs. Vioral, Mr. Phillips, Mr. Young, and Mr. Ryerson. Here are some fun facts about each of these fabulous teachers.

This is Mrs. Vioral's second year at Haynes. She LOVES to bake cookies and travel. She is a mom to two boys and has been married for 13 years. One of her goals is to illustrate and write a children's book. She loves tacos and her favorite book is The Giving Tree.

Mr. Ryerson has been at Haynes for over 20 years! He is a dad to three kids: his sons are 12 years old and 20 years old and his daughter is 17. He loves going to the beach to bodyboard and surf. He also enjoys exercising and working out. He likes to cook and has two Husky mix dogs.

Mr. Young has been at Haynes for two years. He is the father to two boys, Cooper who is 1 and Carter who is 4. He has been married for six years. He loves cars and photography. Mr. Young's favorite morning drinks are iced coffee and orange juice and his favorite food is sushi.

Mr. Phillips has been teaching at Haynes for 25 years. He and his wife just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at Walt Disney World. He has two children. Mr. Phillips' favorite candy is M&Ms.

Meet Our Staff - SEL Team

Our SEL Team at Haynes do it all. Mrs. Silva, Ms. Magdaleno, and Ms. Lopez provide Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) support, they help families get services and referrals for counseling, mental health, and more. They also help to implement PBIS on the playground and in classrooms and meet with students to provide that just-in-time support. Here are some interesting facts and information about them.

Ms. Magdaleno is one of our Outreach Consultants/counselors. This is her third year at Haynes. Her favorite season is fall because she loves the cozy weather and the rain. Ms. M's dream home would be on the beachfront so she could wake up to the sound of the waves every day. One thing that she has learned and wishes she could go back and tell her younger self is that, "It's ok to make mistakes, learn from them. You don't need to have everything planned out; life isn't a straight arrow." The next vacation Ms. Magdaleno has planned is her honeymoon! She and her fiancé plan to visit Costa Rica. A fun fact about Ms. M is that she and her sister were on a gameshow on TLC called "Labor Games" and they won!
