Before I Fall
by Lauren Oliver
Cupids day is supposed to be another charming day of the year for popular high school senior Samantha "Sam" Kingston and her friends, Lindsey,Ally, and Elody. After attending a huge party with her friends, Sam gets in the car with a drunk driver, crashes and dies. For the next seven days, Sam is forced to relive the day of her death, slowly peeling away the layers of truth to find a deeper understanding of what it means to love, lose, and live
At first I didn't really like the book. Mostly because the main character,Sam,isn't exactly likable at th estart. She's everything that you generally don't like about a character, popular, snotty, and just a mean person overall. But as the story goes on you understand her more. The reasons for her actions. The middle was rather slow. I read the book in two days, so I found the 7 days kinda repeatable. Also the plot was alittle complex at first. I had to read the biginning twice to fully understand it. It clearly states that Sam is dead in the prolouge, then she's alive. Then she dies again. Then wakes up the next day completely fine. Afterwards I understood it clearly, but in the biginning i was confused.
"I guess that's what saying good-bye is like-like jumping off an edge. The worst part is making the choice to do it. Once you're in the air, there's nothing you can do but let go"
4 Stars out of 5
I wouldn't recommend this book who loves a full action type of book. I would recommend it for 12 and older that don't mind reading a little to discover true meaning. It was a great book but written for mature readers.
