Test 1
How does the type of circuit affect the strand of Christmas lights with a burned out bulb?
Independent Variable: Parallel Circuit
Dependent Variable: Light
Hypothesis:
If the Christmas lights are arranged in a parallel circuit then 1 bulb bursts then the other bulbs will still be lit.
Observations
I noticed that when i connected all the wires together, all the bulbs lit up. As i continued to build the circuit, the light bulbs lit up brighter and brighter.
Observation and Hypothesis 2
When all the bulbs were connected and there, all of them were lit up. And when i removed the middle bulb, all the other light bulbs still were lit.
Hypothesis 2:
If the Christmas lights are arranged in a series circuit and one bulb bursts then the other bulbs wont be lit anymore.
Observations
As i made the series circuit, when i assembled it all the light bulbs lit up. Even when not all the bulbs were in there, they all were lit.
As i removed a light bulb from the circuit, non of the light bulbs were lit anymore. This was because when one part of the circuit was missing, it didn't work anymore.
Conclusion
A parallel circuit is the best series to use for Christmas lights because when you put up Christmas lights, you want them to stay lit. When one of the lights gets broken you want the whole string of lights to still work. With a series circuit, when one of the bulbs breaks, the whole string of lights stops working. But with a parallel circuit, when one of the bulbs breaks, the whole string will still work.
